Position Of Nest Box

Hi everyone

Does the nesting box need to be positioned high in the breeding cage or can you have it lower in the cage.

Do they prefer the nest box up high to breed? to feel safe.

Thank you

If the breeding cage is up off the ground I've never found that it really matters where the box is but theoretically higher is probably better, often you don't have any choice about where to locate it.

Thanks Melbournebudgies

I have the breeding cages up of the ground on a old desk on a veranda . The cages have a open latch door on each end to put a nesting box.The latch door sits about the same height as the feeder seed cups you put inside the cage. The Nest box sits just a little bit higher than the seed cups . Is that okay or should I cut an opening for the nest box a little higher than that.

Thank you

hi i would just put it were the doors are it seems it will be okay and it will save you some work as well.

regards Joel

I have the same thing so I just use the doors and if a particular pair doesn't like that arrangement then I have a couple of spare cages I use ^_^
