I have been reading that oats are very good food for budgies. I have some quick cooking rolled oats, are they good for budgies to eat? Or is it a different kind of oat that I need to purchase?

Its hulled oats that budgies like....a whole grain without the husk and available at bird supply stores or livestock suppliers.

Hi. Do you mean quick rolled oats? I am pretty sure they make poridge so I thought it would be good for budgies.

yeah the porridge in the carton. The rolled oats are chopped up a bit/finer in there, I just add a handfull with mashed egg, grated vegies, budgie starter and some other bits and pieces in there

We always have it in the cupboard as my other half has a bowl of it after night shift (the porridge not the softfood:) )

I sometimes use the porridge oats in the soft food also. Be aware it makes the soft food go sour pretty quickly so dont leave it in there if it isnt eaten over a couple of hours.

Soft food has moisture in it, or you add to make it soft. So you mix it in dry but the other food in it, vegies etc, or budgie starter with water will make it all soft. Add water as required to make it a good consistency.
