  2. How young/old?
  3. Boy?
  4. are there any other things i need to know? TELL ME EVERYTHING PLEASE!

Thanks for your time

Good LUck with your birds.

I would not buy a bird from a pet shop, you'd be better to go through a breeder.

Age: Depending on whether you want to train it or not, if you do then the younger the better - provided it can eat for itself

Sex: Boys are easier to tame than girls, again depending on what you want it for.

This site from FAQ might help you http://forums.budgiebreeders.asn.au/faqs/i...ht=new%20budgie

It really depends Pet Shops can be good and Breeders can be bad and vs versa, in the FAQ there is an excellent article written up about evaulating both. I think research and asking question is going to lead you to answering your own question.

My opnion is to go with a breeder

S/he will be able to tell you what Sex the bird is

What mutation it is

Who it's parents are ( so you will know if it is split and what too )

Also they are more friendly I find - They aren't after your money and won't tell you what you want to hear!

But tell you what you NEED TO KNOW ..

We have all BEEN THERE DONE THAT in the early stages with petshops. We have all had to tell people on here that they have been sold an adult bird from a petshop and were told it was a baby. They have been told they had a boy budgie when it was a girl budgie and so on. A breeder who has been doing it for years for the love of the birds will do right by you. A breeder who sells too cheap and supplies the petshops with cheap inbred tiny budgies will still...like a petshop....tell you what you want to hear.

Do your homework first...and be prepared with a list of questions and be prepared for lies when they dont know the answers. You really need to source a budgie enthusiast ...a breeder who loves their budgies and cares about where they are going to live and how they are going to live.

Check out this topic http://forums.budgiebreeders.asn.au/index....showtopic=19173 and it will help you recognise a baby from an adult. Check out our faq section ......we have great info in there

That is what we are ALL here for :D
