Posted August 30, 200816 yr Hi I put some bird seen in a pot of dirt a week ago and now it has sprouted and grown. Can I feed it to budgies? Here is a picture. Do I let it grow longer or do I feed it to them now? If I let it grow for a while, will it turn into millet or what will it look like? Is it healthier for the birds now or when it grows alot bigger.. Thanks
August 30, 200816 yr Looks awesome! You can give it to them now, or let it grow bigger and get seed heads. Either is fine, and they love both. It won't be any healthier when it's bigger, they just might like it more. You can have two lots going it once and swap them when needed. Let us know how they go with it
August 30, 200816 yr Might pay to seperate up the seedlings and let half of them grow bigger ( replanted into post with more space around them ) and feed the rest to the birds. Once millet gets bigger I feed the green seed heads to my birds too.
August 30, 200816 yr Author I have 10 pots of the seed growing so I can feed 1 lot to them today and let the rest grow bigger. When it gets a head on it, do you let the seed go brown before you feed it to them or can they eat it all green? Thanks very much
