Posted August 28, 200816 yr I put a pair down 3 weeks ago. They have been mating continuously and the hen has been spending time in the nest box for about 2 1/2 weeks but hasn't laid any eggs?? Do I wait a bit longer or remove them?

Do I wait a bit longer or remove them? I always harken back to the first rule of medicine...."Do no harm". Yes, you may take them out now, but will it make any difference if you give them another week? I do not think so, so leave them there I say. Edited August 29, 200816 yr by maesie spelling :-)
August 29, 200816 yr Cover up the nestbox hole for a few days ...the hens often hide away in the nestbox like they are waiting for their own eggs and arent doing the proper matings for that to happen.
August 29, 200816 yr Author Cover up the nestbox hole for a few days ...the hens often hide away in the nestbox like they are waiting for their own eggs and arent doing the proper matings for that to happen. That was my next question Kaz, should I cover up the hole for a while? The hen doesn't spend a great deal of time in there so I don't think she is hiding? Are the dropping getting bigger.SteveNope, no egg poos, no egg bum, no nothing Edited August 29, 200816 yr by Denise
