August 30, 200816 yr Author Nope I guess this weekend is out. Hopefully it comes through next week some time. I just hope they don't overlook it and forget about it because it's not a priority to them. I thought saying yes or no should be a quick thing to do... just hope it happens soon!
August 30, 200816 yr Hey... good luck with getting the okay. I had a similar situation. I just moved into a unit where pets were on approval only. My caged lizards were okay, my aviary... no. At the time I had mum, dad and five babies which needed daily checks. SO... i told them that I needed to look after them and the real estate agent said I could have them until they were big enough to look after themselves... so... I had them for that long, spoke to my neighbors and hoped for the best. Once the time was up, I removed all but MY TWO, and emailed them again. I said that I was feeling lonely and pets are my life.. that I vacuum daily and am a neat freak... that no one has complained about them and that they don't make mess... I was given the okay, but if their are any complaints, they will have to go. I emailed them often so they didn't forget as I think this is a low priority compared to their other work. It is however a fine line between you annoying them too much, and reminding them of it. You could speak to the other tentants if you want, or just wait for their approval. How long has it been? If you've got the okay from the owners, I'd be contacting the body corporate and saying they said okay and that you have been researching on how to properly care for your budgie, you have found the perfect cage and just need the okay to get it... if they say no, you can pull out the whole... I'm a very clean person, vacuum daily, member of a budgie forum/club etc.... Their are always options. Good Luck and let us know how you go.
August 30, 200816 yr Author Thanks Maisie... I go through my property manager for everything, I think she has to contact body corporate on my behalf. I know she has though, because she CCed me in on the email, and that was sent to them on Tuesday first thing in the morning. So it's only been 4 working days.... not that long I guess. I suppose if another week or so goes by with no response I might ask her to follow up.

I don't want them to think I'm annoying them as they then might put all of my requests on the 'non urgent' pile... if you know what I mean. Good luck!
August 30, 200816 yr If they are anything like the Body Corporate where my Mum lives it takes about 3 weeks to contact all the owners of the units
September 6, 200816 yr Author Still nothing..... no budgie this weekend either  I am getting a bit better at waiting though... expecting it to take a few weeks or a month or so to find out, just from what i've heard from other people about body corps. At least they haven't responded with an outright no...  Everything's all ready though... one of the spare cages of my parents' is all set up at their place ready to be picked up as soon as we get the go ahead. I didn't want to leave the cage here while I waited because it would be too annoying seeing it all the time haha
September 13, 200816 yr Author Yeah still nothing.... you're right, it has been ages. Some people told me that body corporates often take about a month to make the rounds and come to a decision on pets. It's been 3 weeks now so I might just leave it a little bit longer before chasing it up. The annoying thing is that body corp didn't respond at all. It would have been nice to get an acknowledgement of the request, such as "We have received your request and will get back to you when we have reached a decision" so that we at least know they received it and are doing something.
September 13, 200816 yr I was excited when I saw you posted... I thought you would have heard something by now. You could even contact them asking if they got your request, and then say you're just checking how it is going??? I feel your pain... it's so hard waiting. Good luck and I hope to hear good news soon!

September 13, 200816 yr Hi Krosp, Â I don't know how your doing it, it would be killing me not knowing and I do so hope that your body corp are sensible and realize what wonderful animals budgies are, and grant you permission to have one. Good Luck and I'll be keeping an eye on this post.
September 15, 200816 yr Author Yeah it is annoying, every day I come home from work to check my email and mail, hoping to get the answer... but I've been expecting it less and less. I just sent a follow up email to my property manager though so will let you all know how that goes  Nice to have a place to come where other people understand the frustration!
September 16, 200816 yr Hope you get an answer or at least a confirmation that something is being done.
September 22, 200816 yr Author Ooh, I finally have an update of sorts! Â Our property manager is fantastic.... has chased up body corp for us. They have said that we should have an answer by the end of this week! Â But I'm trying not to get my hopes up too much in case they continue to take their time, or worse, say no.
September 24, 200816 yr Author WE GOT APPROVAL!!! Thanks all for crossing your fingers and everything else  We still have to wait a bit though because we have to sign some paperwork before we're allowed to get it.  The other thing I found really weird was that the approval is "for the life of the animal only" and we are not allowed to replace it if it dies I find that quite strange....  Hopefully we can get the paperwork done really soon now.
