Edited by birdlover12

Yer would love to know wot it looks like?

It's a budgie with a type of (they say) bulldog face, I think that the english budgies look younger though cause the american budgies look like an old version of the english budgie!

Nice to meet you all, Adam and Lucky's gal!

I just registered yesterday!!!!!!!!!!!!

to me budgies are australian as it is there navitive land and they all look the same to me. Only diferance is that some are small and some a big and they all have there own diferent characteristics. but they are all still australian to me.

i thought enlish budgies were show budgies and australian were the littler ones in the pet shop that you see

the big one is an 'english' and the small an 'australian'

chriscont.jpg

budgieteen the big one is a show size the little one pet size all budgies are australian there are no english or american budgies just birds that are bred to a different ideal

yes i know that, that is just wat people are talking about wen they say english and australian, i know that all budgies are australian and there are bigger ones for exibitation(sp) etc etc,

that is why when i wrote english and australian i put a ' there.

im going to stop posting n this topic cuz its all confusing, ill read but won't post

basically all budgies are australian

'english' budgies are show budgies and all are australian originally.

okay, look ALL budgies come from Australia and I know that :) !!!!!!

But they were named english and american budgies (I DON'T KNOW WHY EITHER).

NEways, all the budgies in that one picture are american budgies (I'll try to show a picture).

English budgies are usually bigger, and have a big feathered forehead called a crown! <This 1 for example looks more like an american budgie!!!

For EXAMPLE:

The blue budgie on Budgieteen's picture is an English budgie, the green yellow faced budgie is an American budgie!!!!!!!!!

:blink::wacko: okay, I'm Done Talkin'!!!

Thanks Clint!

okay, I'll get calm

:parrot: :) NE BUDGIES R MY FAVES!!!!!!!!!

O.K. see the budgie in Hath's picture. (the one right under her name on the left) that's an american budgie!

Now the one in ur picture. is an english budgie!

See the differences?

The american budgie usually has a tiny beak and a lot of feathers on his forehead. They also tend to be bigger in size!

 Hope I helped!!!

why does every body think im a her?? i can asure you im a he

O.K. see the budgie in Hath's picture. (the one right under her name on the left) that's an american budgie

from that picture it could be anyone type of budgie

as for the american budgie being bigger ??

if people want to see budgies from diferrent countrys go to budgerigar world go to links look at some of the breeders of SHOW birds in england germany belgium then scroll down and look at some photos of american breeders of SHOW budgies if you did not know where they came from you could not tell the diference the american english belgium dutch are all the same no difference the only reason that there is adifference in show and pet budgies is that the budgerigar society be it in america england or the wbs have set a certain standard of budgie ie the ideal and this is what exhibition breeders are trying to achieve

I think my budgies are what you are calling "American" budgies, but I always thought of them as Australian. They are like the original wild-type budgerigars, and they are the type we see in pet stores (over here anyway) most often. I've never heard them called American budgies before, just wild-type or Australian. They are about 7" long and more slender. The English budgies are slightly larger - maybe 8 1/2 " - with bigger heads and a deeper chest. I think they have a much stockier look to them. They also seem to have much larger spots on the necklace. Whenever I've seen English budgies in a pet store, they cost a whole lot more!

There are some good photos on the budgerigarworld site, thanks Hath.

You must've gotten a good deal - some stores here charge almost that much US $$ for pet budgies.

the last outcross i bought was ?150 for a **** bird

my budgies were only ?17.50 frm a pet shop nd i got my uvas free cos i got them frm my m8

My budgie (pet budgie) was around 25$ canadian.

I agree with you kickass_clint a budgie is a budgie.

I agree with u Clint, that's why I put both!!! And at home I have both types.

Also, the green 1s R the 1s frm the wild and the blue or rainbow colored 1s were born in captivity!

SORRY TO TALK ABOUT CURRENCY, but over here the most expensive birds I have found R sold at $25!!!

I bought B.B. 4 $20 and I bought Yoli & Chico 4 $10-$15!!!!!

I bought Cucu for $100(he's a cockatiel) and Cuca 4 $75(she's a cockatiel)!!!

Oh, & SORRY 4 calling u a she Hath (the guy) hehehe, my mistake!!! :) :(Laughing out loud):
