My So Called Boy...

Featured Replies

Posted

This is "SAM". He is only 4 months old or so but when I bought him and his nose was rather blue... in the last few days his cere has faded a bit but still has a blue tint to it. The thing is all my blue hens have "white" ceres with blue tint around the nostrils... and I fear my so called boy just night be a girl??? Please check out this picture of him (its the best I have so far) and tell me if you think this youngster is a girl or boy.

Thanks

PS Sorry about photo size, I'm having trouble with my edit options with photobucket, I am getting an error and booted off. Please don't think I don't care about the request to resize pics, I just can't do it for some reason.

I can’t be sure from that picture, but look more like a hen to me.

Darn, that's what I thought. I will try to get a better picture of the full front of his/her face and maybe you can take a better guess??? I'll try to post it soon.

Looks like a hen to me too

If Kaz thinks it's a girl it must be a girl she's the expert on sexing young birds.

And all the others seem to agree…So I guess it’s Darn…darn…darn!!! I guess you wanted a boy? Back to the drawing board as they say. Try again.

That could be true we never see evidence of the mistakes…LOL….We only speak of our successes not our failures…but you have some backup this time…some people can be wrong…but not all of the people all of the time…[place a smilie here, but forum wouldn't allow]

I'd say it's younger than 4 months by the way :D

I'm fence sitting until you get the front on picture of the cere ..

Definitely a hen.....petshops always get it wrong. Any hint of blue on the cere and they ( petshops ) say its a boy, when that really isnt the case.

Budgies of course, can be sold younger than 3-4 months but should NOT be sold unweaned. Preferably around 7-8 weeks at the youngest if they are flying and eating seed.
