Can They Go Outside

Featured Replies

my quarantine birds have been living in my laundry at night (due to the cages they are in being completely open) but are put outside everyday till dusk, they came from an outdoor aviary and I want to put them in my aviary.

Do you think it they will be okay?

It can still get fairly cold at night but my laundry has no heating and I can tell you it just about as cold in there as outside

I have 4 others that will be going in the aviary aswell, they came from the same place as the new guys but they have benn living it up in my spare room for the last 6 weks so they will have to wait for abit longer I think.

typo ....quarantine

Birds that are used to being outside will be fine outside - i always quarantine birds outside to stop them getting "soft".

How long have you had them??

Is your laundry like mine and FREEEEZING at night still??

If you are worried. Leave them outside for a couple of nights covered with a sheet - it will let the cold in but keep the droughts out.

They should be okay because they have been in the cold during the day. Have a feel of their breast area and make sure they have a nice layer of fat.

I have had them for 4 weeks and yes my laundry is freezzing, the windows are luvered (sorry if the spelling is wrong), they all feel pretty meaty, I have moved them outside and put the ones in the spare room in the laundry to toughen back up.

I have a fear of putting mine outside due to stray dogs cats possums and anything else ...

So i have to have mine inside, I would love to put them outside :D ...
