Tap Water...

Is it okay to give Budgies tap water? For years we have given them bottled water but wondered if tap water was that bad. Bottled water can be expensive in these credit crunch times so was wondering if anyone had any views on tap water....thanks :)

Someone told us years ago that the high levels of Chlorine in tap water is dangerous for budgies :) thanks for your help :D

tap water is perfectly fine, I think the chlorine affects more aquatic life them the birds, the levels of chlorine in tap water are nothing compared to a swimming pool (I know because I tested it vs our swimming pool). My grandmother's bird lived on tap water and seed for 18yrs.

If you are concerned then you could install a filter costs a few hundred dollars and will save you in the longer term.

In saying that I use tap water and so far all has been good.

Filtered tap water

If you are in the areas where you have HARD water, you are better off using either rain or bottled water ...

But I use tap water all the time :hap:

I use tap water and It is fine, I doubt the chlorine levels in the water is enough to kill a budgie.
