August 23, 200816 yr Just remember that we buy birds to breed and we breed to show. It's the chicks that you are interested in showing, not the parent. ..... I love the spangle sky cock.
August 23, 200816 yr Nice Neat. Make sure you pair these birds up to show tyes and keep the pet types away from them. You will notice not many breeders will sell their better Hens. One thing I do is buy the Hen(even if its not up to bench standards) from the same breeder that I purchased the cock bird from. See you on the bench.
August 23, 200816 yr Author DAZ,* waves Hi .... that is the only thing that is in my head!.... Apart from Feather, Width of Head etc ... I spoke to the breeder and These birds are from the came clutches that the prices of their siblings were over the $100 to $400 mark ... So i was very pleased with them - I have been doing my research and Know that when I make ( made ) my first choice that it would be based on a 30% visual and 70% bloodline choice ..... I am also will be getting the hens from the same breeder ( more research ) and I know that a good hen is like a GOLD Bullion's and won't be given up ... But I will be looking for one that has the features that These cocks don't ... If i pair them correctly ( and i hope too) i should be able to see some great results Ikon I will see you there ... One day in the near future
August 23, 200816 yr My thoughts on buying birds is to stick with 1 - 3 breeders. Buy a pair or two from one breeder and see how they go. If the chicks are an improvement, go back to that breeder for more out crosses. I have settled on Dave Ganzer's line from Brisbane. Very strong birds with good fertility and very good chicks. I have added a second top breeder being Gary Armstrong from Perth. His birds have great feathering and stature. I will run two separate lines and try latter to bring them together. My Spangle line is from Dave Frampton from Ipswich. With out crosses from Greg Horrobin and Kathy Krang. When starting out, don't try to have too many different breeders in you out crosses as all your doing is mixing up features that my not click. Neat if those birds do well for you, go back to that breeder for out crosses. He will have a better idea on which birds will compliment those birds.
