Posted August 21, 200817 yr We have many different photo contests from Budgie of the Month which runs monthly, Budgie Olympics this Month and more. We have many fanastic photographers here so we would like to know if each of you if you have a tip or a question on how to take GOOD pictures with the camera that you have. Leave your tips, questions and it is always useful to let us know what type of camera you have. Some of us have cheap ones and others more expensive but either way I know we can take good pictures no matter what.
August 21, 200817 yr My tips are as follows: Remember to have charged batteries in your camera Remember to have a memory card in your camera AND remember to take the lens cap off!!! Sorry... seriously though... natural light helps better colour show up, a steady hand or tripod and take heaps of shots... sometimes you can't tell how good or bad they are until you get a good look at them on the computer, so take as many as possible and you're bound to get some good ones!
August 21, 200817 yr Macro settings ( tulip icon on camera) is great for those close up. Best advice would be to read the instruction manual you never know what your camera is capable of doing. Natural Lighting for Cere's and body colour .. Agree with Maes on all of them ... too Edited August 22, 200817 yr by KAZ changed marco into macro
August 21, 200817 yr l agree with Maesie and Neat, natural lighting is the best. you need patience for waiting for just the right opportunity to snap a picture and also luck
August 21, 200817 yr My main tip is the same as others have said. Natural defuse white light is what is needed - full sun is too much light. Any photos taken under ceiling lights etc will always looks discoloured and grainy. Second tip is TURN OFF THE FLASH! Use plenty of defuse natural white light instead as a flash will wash out your photo in most cases. Third tip. dont get too close. Take your photo at a little distance and then crop it with an image editing tool. If you have do a closeup make sure you use the macro setting (looks like a little tulip) and no flash - lots of natural defuse white light Also remember to resize your pictures to below 640 x 480 px before posting on BBC forums.
August 22, 200817 yr My advice to add is some of the worst looking photos look great once cropped. So look at cropping a photo to show the subject better.
August 22, 200817 yr Author keep them coming because I am going to write this up as a document and add to our new Welcome Center .
August 22, 200816 yr another few tips; - if you are taking a picture of a flower or a portrait, it is a good idea to take the picture when it is an overcast/cloudy day. - if you want to take a picture of a flower when it is sunny and you want some light come through the bottom part of the flower, use some aluminum foil. the aluminum foil will reflect the sunlight unto the shadowy area's of the flower.
