2 Week Old Baby Budgies

Featured Replies

Posted

Hi there,

At the moment i have 3 baby budgies,

Oldest is nearly to weeks old and the others are about 1 and a half weeks old.

The oldest one i have noticed has red eyes while the other two have black. Also the oldest has some spikey yellow feathers so does this mean that it could be a lutino?

The mother and Father are exactly the same colour which is.......... greeny blue body with yellow head, i think its called Yellow face type 2 Cinnamon

thanks

:D

Here is the mum and dad,

dad is actually the son of aprille but wasnt fast enough to remove him before they bred again.

They are both taking good care of the babies though.

And if the baby is lutino i dont know where it would be from

Iamge changed to link becuase it is over 640x480

The Dad's parents would have have to have passed Ino genes to him in order to create an Ino chick.

The chick is female.

Was aprille or her partner Ino??

okay well this is what happened,

Aprille and her other partner halo, (check out my other topics for photos.)

Had 4 babies. 1 of them was Teala which then bred with his mum Aprille. The chick is hers and his.

Aprille so far has only had blue budgies. but that was only with halo.

So Tealas dad halo must have the lutino gene.

Sorry it sounds soooooooo confusing but its soooooo hard to explain lol

:fear

So you mean that mother and son have the babies at the moment???

If that is the case. I believe the Ino would come from breeding to close genetically :fear

yes aprille is the mother to Teala but also they had 3 babies which are theirs.

I was sellling Tealas other three siblings when a couple of days laer they bred.

What does this mean, doesnt mean that it is genetic? (lutino)

Or what.

thanks

I am not sure exactly,

I know Lutino is sex linked which means that hens either have the gene or they dont and males can be split (hide) the gene.

I think that two closely related birds can produce Ino's .... I have read this somewhere but i cant find where :fear

I say it's a creamino :fear

They'll only produce ino if they have the gene, inbreeding alone can't create genetics that aren't in their blood :D

So you didn't only get ino because the parents are related :D

The dad carries the gene in split form and seeing as his mother is not ino his dad must of either been Ino or split to it for it to be passed down to him
