should i be concerned that mum doesnt seem to be getting in the box at night time?

 

Its been dropping down to about 8 degrees or lower at night here...

 

 

What should i do??

If the babies are round the 3 - 4 weeks mark they stop sitting on the chicks...

 

If you are concerned for them you can put someting on the walls where the wire is to stop the draughs going through

As Neat say the Mums stop staying in the nest once the chicks start to feather up and can keep each other warm. How old are the chicks ?

There is only one chick, approx 4-5 weeks old, i have wood shavings in there and the cage is protected by a bamboo blind and it gets covered with an old cotton doona cover

You have no worries...a 4-5 week old is due to leave the nest if not already and it has all its feathers. Its fine
