Congratulations Libby And Renee

Today was the interclub challenge of three clubs held in Mandurah. I went and only took some third stringers ( not the best or second best team of birds ) as my best ones are all down breeding right now. Libby has been a member of one of the clubs for awhile but hasnt shown any birds before. So today I took five of her birds with me and showed them for her and on her behalf. I say again...this was Libbys first ever showing of budgies.

One was her 11 yr old skyblue boy who has fantastic spots :P

He, due to stiff competiton got a fourth place.

The next was a young skyblue budgie who took off first place

and this young Fallow FRODO who behaved impeccably in the show cage and also took off first place

Here is RENEE 5 week old cock bird "MAGIK" ............I must add, that at 5 weeks of age this little baby stayed on his show perch the whole time and behaved very well. He was also the same size as his adult counterparts on the show bench next to him and he was even bigger than some of the adults. He melted everyone's heart :P

Here is MAGIK

and here's something a little different

A cinnamon hen was showing signs of a QUOTE "a sore leg" UNQUOTE

...she was leaning sideways in the bottom of her show cage with her leg in the air.

They were about to remove her from showing when she surprised everyone by laying an egg in the show cage :P:o

She then got up on her perch and took off first place :hap:

Congratulations LIbby & Renee, great effort & beautiful birds.

OMG!!!! Congrats Libby and Renee!!!!!!!

What an amazing result for first time!!!

Libby, dont forget to update your profile info - you are now a show breeder :P

WOW thats good how you girls won nearly everything but its amazing how the competition changes from state to state. The birds here in NSW are heap's bigger and there is heap's more competition here in NSW.

good luck with the next show's

p.s nice nest feather

best regards Joel

Congratulations, what great results you had :P

Cheers guys :D

I was very impressed with them, didn't think they'd do well at all :D

It's now inspired bob and I to take up show size breeding on a bigger scale than just the few birds we've bred so far :D

The birds here are much bigger also Joel, but you have to remember these were my first birds bred, from fairly standard parents, so I'm happy with that result even if they aren't the most "desired" show types out :D:P

Kaz doesn't give herself the credit she deserves, she had MANY beautiful birds in the show and MANY placings

His ring is red AV, code - WB -7 060 WA

Lastly i'd just like to say THANK YOU! to Kaz for enabling my birds to go to the show yesterday, it was out of her way to stop off here and she didn't have to :D :D Plus for lending the show cages for the birds :D

Thank you!! :D

P.s. there's no photo's up yet of your placings and birdies :D

Congrats Lib, you must be so over the moon and I am really happy for you :D

Your birds look stunning :P

Congrats to Renee also.

And kudos to Kaz for being so kind as to take your birds along :D

Well done all of you!! :D

Agree... good stuff Kaz, you have a good heart! :D and... the egg laying hen in the show cage... :P:D:D

Again JoEl you have jumped to a conclusion :P Birds here are "heaps bigger" as you put it too. These birds are Libbys first ever birds as a true beginner, first birds she has ever entered into a show and even though size doesnt appear to be there the judges saw fit to judge them as first. Are you questioning the judges ability ? You are showing how little you know by your answers.

Size is relative to the photo taken and who took the photo and when the photo was taken ( i.e. bird relaxed or not, blowing or not etc ).

I also took off some firsts with my third string birds. But it was irrelevant to me as they WERE my third stringers as far as my best birds went.

With age and experience JoEl you must learn tact, when to bite your tongue and not burst a beginners bubble of excitement AND JoEl you have not answered my PMs :D

Well done girls- excellent job with Libbys babies as we have watched those little'ns from babies and really feel part of it. And such a cutie from Renee- will be watching this one!

Just makes me wish I wasnt so far away.

Thank you everyone for your kind congratulations!

Yes, there's talk of changing the InterClub Challenge to another time as of course we all have our best birds down breeding and naturally benching numbers were down because Metro and the Rares and even a few SWBC members didn't want to show their lesser birds. Mind you everyone's in the same boat, so really it shouldn't matter. :D

A big congratulations to Libby for her first showing with good results! :D

As Kaz says Joel, a little more tact on your part would go a long way, it’s immaterial to us whether the birds in the East or the West are bigger. We are about encouraging people who are working on their birds for improvement. It’s easy showing off nice birds that have been bought with $$$’s what matters is the product of peoples own aviaries & seeing their skills in improving their birds, producing top birds takes many years, it’s the journey that matters.

You have missed the point again Joel. It has nothing to do with standards here in Western Australia or there in your home state.

but im saying that they are lovely birds and a great credit to the breeders of them. but a bird like that would never win at a main show thats all. im saying i give them the credit of winning and i hope they win again and again. and the nest feather is a beautiful nest feather and it has a long future ahead of it. and for example that bird that layed a egg if that would of happend at a show here it would of been disqualified like what happend to my friends bird.best regards and good luck with your birdsJoelall im saying is the rules change from state to state

Things can be said in many ways, choice of words often matter, or the way you say something, if you don’t want to offend people…regards…Norm.
