Posted August 15, 200816 yr Hello, I am a bit new to this, but I have a new cage and am finding it impossible to find a seed catcher to fit it. Do you know where I can find a pattern for a seed catcher? or should I try and design my own? Thanks Much
August 15, 200816 yr Seed catchers are so easy to make :nest: Measure the base of your cage. Add about 2 cm to the width and length so you can do your semes. Measure the height up the side of the cage you would like the seed catcher to go. (i do it about half way up.) plus about a cm for your seam Draw out your measurements onto fabric so it looks like this and cut out. it will end up as one piece - dont cut each section. Match the coloured sides and sew together. Once sewn you can then fold over to top of each side and sew together leaving enough space to be able to thread cord or elastic though. Thread your cord or elastic and tie when it will fit the cage snug and your done Hope that makes sense Edited August 15, 200816 yr by **Liv**
August 15, 200816 yr That's great Liv. My boyfriend keeps bugging me to get one, but I also find it hard to find one that will fit. Off to spotlight I go on the weekend!

I guess I don't have an excuse now Thanks Much... I just went to Spotlight and bought some fabric. Its been two years since my last buddy passed away. His name was Toby, so my daughter has finally convinced me to get another... but we had to get a big big big cage ~L~
August 15, 200816 yr Liv, you are a woman of many talents .... ELLY can this be added to FAQ'S or pinned ( with cage tidy added in the search too )
August 15, 200816 yr You can also do the same but without the base so it's like a tube that fits around the bottom of the cage that way you don't have to remove it to empty the tray.
