Posted August 12, 200816 yr Well they let me know today I have been neglecting them. Everyday they get fresh seed and softfood of whatever recipe I have made for the day. But while getting my dog meat today I picked a heap of thistle (not sure if thats the proper name for it so dont quote me) and took home each breeder cage got a bit andthe flights got a big bunch. While doing the breeders I had a wall of budgies on the wire divider 'begging'!! As I walked around to their door I was followed along the wire and met at the door with some little fuzzy friends sitting on the door as I came in. Being the tortuous person I am I held it out to see who was brave enough to take on the monster (me) First on was Chook the one I had inside for a while- he still lets me feed and kiss him but wont go anywhere near my hand usually but then had a few others that just couldnt resist either. We are in the new house (new for us) and bobcatted the yard out when we moved in so we have no grass or garden out there yet. I used to take a handfull of fresh picked grass/weeds/whatever I had growing to them everyday at the old house and didnt realise how much they missed it here. I'll have to get onto these weeds and start growing them LOL Apparently they just havent been spoilt enough.

August 12, 200816 yr Meal worms are beetle larva. Commonly sold as live food in reptile and aquarium stores Not sure I could stomach my budgies tearing a meal worm apart :yuk:
August 12, 200816 yr I've heard they like meal worms ??? Or something that sounds similar? No idea what they're? Yep, mealworms Libby. They are sort of a cross between earth worms are witchity grubs. Mealworm- Wikipedia I feed them to my reptiles but never tried the birds on them. You have to be carefull not to feed them to young lizards as they can eat their way back out of their guts Pie... I can just see them now... following you around as you taunt them
