May 11, 200915 yr Author It is so so frustrating. Sitting outside waiting and hoping to see the bird. Its worse than a bird dieing to me.
May 13, 200915 yr Author Chicks from tinys nest are growing very fast and looking quite good. Just got back from a 2 day job up in towoomba so I was unable to take pictures. On another note the vegetables are growing well. Got some broccoli, spinach, parsley, cauliflower and much more. Birds loving it.

May 13, 200915 yr Wow. I never knew they are smart enough to lift a cage door.I've got a cage that a bird escaped from about 3 months ago. I do not know how, their are no holes, no gaps, width between wire is fine. Today, Beaky escaped the cage. So the only way he could have is by lifting the cage door. Going to go get some pegs. aww did u (YOU) lose more then 1? Lose more than one of what?Im not following. I believe he is asking if only one bird escaped or more... Edited May 13, 200915 yr by Elly

May 13, 200915 yr oh no only one bird escaped. oh well thats good then, unlike poor kaz, she woulda been devastated over the loss's of all those budgie's she lost about a week ago.... glad it was only 1, but 1 is just as painful and heartbreaking as 10 :hap: thankfully i aint lost 1 yet :hap: and after reading the posts. im definitly alot more careful about my budgie's
May 14, 200915 yr Author Yep. I never would of thought a budgie can lift a cage door. They are so smart.

May 14, 200915 yr okay good idea me not much going to work and school and looking after my birds Edited May 14, 200915 yr by shannon bird breeder
May 16, 200915 yr Author Not much happened today. Adjusted the baby cage to make it more suitable. All I did really was flip it upside down Babies looking really good, the grey green clutch babies are the best birds I've ever bred. Too some they may not be much but to me they are the best. Been viewing another forum and some of the exhibition breeders do not stop breeding their birds. Can you believe that. One person has a bird that has done 14 clutches in a row no breaks. Outrageous I feel sorry for the bird.
May 16, 200915 yr Pearce....these babies you posted would do you proud. Cant wait to see what they look like in around 8 months time
May 16, 200915 yr They're gorgeous Pearce well done!! The sky blue is my personal favourite, she's gorgeous!!!!! Any time you want a new home for her...... you know where to look!!!
May 19, 200915 yr Author so sick of the rain I love it because its filling up the dams and giving us all clean fresh drink water bit I hate it at my place. The grass goes soggy Their is mud everywhere You cant walk anywhere without grass getting stuck to your boots Everything becomes slippery Thats just to name a few. I've also got the flu which is a bugger. Cannot do much. Update on the birds - The grey green babies keep jumping out of the nest and running around on the cage floor. I stopped putting them back in their after they jumped out about 15 times. As soon as I put 1 bird in, another bird would jump out, and it would repeat. They can stay outside now on the floor in the cold. I may try again tonight but they are 40 days old so they can come out if they want, im just worried about the cold. Other babies doing well also. 5 eggs in one nest I beleive they are all fertile.
May 19, 200915 yr Author candled eggs today and they are fertile which is excellent. I saw veins, I dont usually candle much but today I tried it with success. I quarantined the birds I bought at the brisbane auction for 90 days, The worming stuff took a while to be delivered so I thought I'd leave them in the holding cage. They were released to the aviary today.
