okay Thanks Liv.

I do not need one for showing, I wanted one to put birds in to take photos. But now im not so sure because I'd have to take photos through the bars at the front, so they would get in the way.

The birds move around way to fast for me to take pictures unless they are in a very small cage, I dont know how everyone does it.

The secret is sometimes you have to take 50 pictures to get just one good one :hap:

it is a pain, i took some pics today of a few birds and they dont do justice to the birds as i took them on my phone camera, and it doesnt take a good crisp image to see the birds easier.

Thankyou kaz. My camera only holds 30 pictures at a time.

I have found an awesome cheap easy to make camera cage on the internet.

It was made by Mick Freakley.

Twilweld and cable ties are all I need.

I am going to buy a show cage and just take picturs through the bars, it is impossible to take photos of my birds in an open avairy,.

Youy can make a mock up show cage with perch but sliding non reflective glass on the front.

Yes kaz thats what I was thinking but when I take a photo wont the picture have a reflection spot on it? Is perspex non reflection?

It gets frustrating after sitting in the avairy for 3 hours and only having one good picture to show for it.

If you read what I wrote you will see I said ..."non reflective glass"...there is such a thing and it should be fine for photos.

I did read your post Kaz that is why I asked if perspex is a non reflective glass...

Tonight I went out to the breeding room because I heard a loud noise. I opened the door to find summer dead on the cage floor with a broken neck. Sadly I beleive she had a night fright and flew straight into the cage wall.

Thankyou Jimmy.

I will do a big update with no pictures now.

Summer and chompers first clutch are all out in the avairy now, all 2 - 3 months old. They are all moulting and their colours are changing. I will take new pictures tomorow.

Chomper sadly had a heart problem or a stroke about a month ago and he died.

Summer flew into the cage wall and broke her neck 3 days ago and she also died.

Chomper and summers second clutch are going very well. 3 of them are eating on their own now and 1 I still have to handfeed. Their is even a light green opaline budgie in the bunch which I have never had from this pair before.

Neon and thunders first clutch babies are not doing so well. The 2 eldest have french moult and look to be getting other health issues. Their beaks are growing very fast and they eat very little. A vet told me they are fine and will regrow all their feathers but I cant say I beleive him. The youngest is not french moult and she is having a blast in the avairy, she is the only bird in the avairy at the moment that will fly at me and sit on my shoulder when I go in, sadly she will become untame soon.

Neon and thunders second clutch are going well.

She has 4 babies which I fostered all to sumo and bullet, to give neon a rest.

Bull and bullets first clutch are all doing very well. Their are only 2 babies directly related to bull and bullet but the other 4 are fostered in from neon and thunders nest. Bull and bullets babies look to be grey which I didnt think was possible from a blue to blue paring, one even looks yellowface.

Basically everything is going well and I will continue to update this thread.

Thankyou for your time.

HI

I have a question. If I was to put the babies (all over 4 weeks old) into a breeder cage with dad, would the dad feed them? Their would be no nesting box. The babies call to dad all the time and he feeds them in their current cage so I cant see why he wouldnt in the new one, any ideas?

I am going away on holidays and it would be easier for my uncle to feed them if They were in a smaller cage without a nest box, can I move them?

I would think this would be fine. I would do it way in advance though, so you can ensure that it is working.
