Posted August 9, 200816 yr okay I had a hen lay one egg on the floor of her cage and then one in her nest box in the space of 12 hours. I was going to put egg A in with egg B but when I went to do this I found that she had smashed egg B so I marked the egg and put it under Flame who is sitting on one and working on her next. I am not sure the egg will be viable but I thought it was worth a try. Did I do the right thing? Any suggestions?

BUT if the hen had kept laying and the eggs were okay...you could have kept the first egg in a dish of seed and waited and added it later. They can be kept around 10 days before incubation that way.
August 9, 200816 yr Author Oh wow really? I never knew that. okay well thanks. Flame is sitting on it with her other egg (the size difference is strange as it's form show types and flame is a pet type) if I get any more eggs from the other and the hen starts to sit then I might move it back. thanks for the info
August 9, 200816 yr If you are going to keep eggs for a few days, before puting them under a hen.It pay to turn the egg morning & night. Half a turn away in the morning & turn it back to you half a turn at night,
