Gucci and Dolce are being fed budgie seed from my local produce store and daily veggies. They are not very keen on them so I'm trying all the tricks in the book . I have noticed their keel bones can be felt. I'm not too worried as I know they are both eating and behaviour wise they are both good. I've been reading up on what to add to their mix. I'm thinking sunflower seeds and some hulled oats. As to the oats, I have 'quick cooking oats' at home which contain ONLY OATS. Is this just a crushed and flattened version of 'hulled oats' or are they different???

My guys love their oats and it really does help bulk them up! Just watch it as I have a few that will only eat the oats if they get a chance and they get a oat gut (like a beer belly but on budgies )

I'll look out for that AV Can I buy them from the supermarket??? Or just from my produce place where I get the sunflower seeds and budgie mix? I can't say I've seen them there, but must admit I've never really looked.

I get them from my produce store normally if you buy in bulk they are cheaper also alot of the time they are out the back and you ask for say 5 or 10 kg and they put it in a bag for you.

Normal when chicks are weaned, they will loose some weight, as they are not feeding from their parents - Also change of food too as mum and Dad were giving them what they eat, Now they take in what they eat

 

I haven't seen Hulled oats in a supermarket before, I know that the produce store sells them .... Ask them if they sell it or if they can get it ordered in !!!
