Breeding? My First Time

Hi. this is probabaly already covered somewhere but i was about to leave for work when i remembered i wanted to ask you this. does it matter what color you breed to what color? Like, is it best to breed them by color or just any color-best birds? because i have all different colors and i'm going to start separating everyone. Ahh thats another thing. Do they breed better if all the males are in one cage, the females in another, and then you put pairs together after awhile? because i know with my chooks, if everyone was pened together and you just put the pairs in a separate pen straight out of the group, fertility and mating would be low, but if you separated the roosters away from the hens for a couple of weeks, but left them within view, i suppose sort of like teasing them, it would increase the fertility ratio immensly and would make the boys more "randy"

thanks for all your help

Personally i do not separate the sexes. I find boys are quite happy to flirt with other boys if there are no hens :)

As for colour verses size, that's up to you. What do you like?? If you are not breeding to show then it really dosen't matter what the outcomes are as long as YOU like them :(

I agree with Liv, here. It is up to you. If they are pets and Not show then it is what YOU LIKE, Or Who has paired up with who - Me, I love all the Blues & Violets and the Dark Greys :P so i try to breed these :hap: But when I start to show it will be different I will bred what the standards are and what is required :D well I hope to do that ... In the colours i like too :D :D
