Hi Dutchman, i was just wondering how the chicks were going??? you haven't updated for several days... ;) I'm a bit impatient but i would love to see some pictures if you've got that working. :)

well the 3 chicks are doing fine now. am prety sure who the dad is, not billy. it seems one is total yellow and oldest and youngest will be green. Had some trouble last week, the females are fighting. one had a bloody cere and the males are into the females and not feeding jock. so i have seperated them and just left out mum and dad and everything seems okay again. only problem is i feel bad putting the others '' in jail''. keep you posted. happy easter

I'm so pleased your chicks are doing well!!! I tried to colony breed but my hens got so aggressive i had to take the boxes out!!! A couple had bloody toes and ceres. Hens can be real agro!!!!!!!!!

i felt bad about caging billy, he used to be realy tame and is of course my favourite. i decided to let him back into the flight. the first thing he did was looking in on the chicks. he was constantly there and i was not sure if he was bitting or feeding them. he then started fighting with jock the mother so i had to send him back to jail and i know he hates it.

Poor Billy. Not to worry!! The chicks will soon be grown and then Billy can get to know them better!!! :)

:D I always put my babies together when they leave the nest keeping them away from adult birds as they can be real aggressive

But when your babies are bigger please keep us updated with some nice pictures please

Well all the best and by for now

Your adults are aggressive? :D My babies must be more manipulative!!! :P They always manage to get food and preening from the adults!!! :D

some bad news today. i went to check on the chicks and the yellow one was dead. he was fine yesterday. i dont know what the reason could be. the only thing i can think of is maybe it suffocated. am scared now to look in tomorrow and lose another. they should be popping there little heads out the box about next week i hope :fear

I have given up with photo bucket but if anybody would like to see some photos of the chicks and or parents you can send me an email at ''steve99hilversum@yahoo.com

Oh that's a shame dutchman, sorry to hear that,I wish you well for all the others though.

Julie

Poor baby! And poor you. I hope the other chicks are okay.... ;)

hi, just an update on the chicks. i have decided to call them ron and reg cause i cant tell them apart.ron has left the box for the first time today. i dont know if he flew or fell but i stuck him back in, he will probably be back out tomorrow.i have decided as soon as i know they can feed themselves to bring them indoors and try to hand tame them and see from there, ''maybe not long term as i have a cat''. this also means i can let all the prisoners out ''4 females and 2 males''has anyone any advice, welcome

Anyway good luck with the birds the hen probably through the baby out, and keep trying with the pictures. :P

You can e-mail me the pictures at greenskydragon@optonline.com and use the subject budgie pics so I know it's from you and I can get them posted for you.

Lovely to be able to see that picture as I've no experience of breeding-the hen certainly seems to be giving you the evil eye!

Julie

okay I got the pictures from dutchman and I got them all uploaded to photobucket. I tried to put them in order from youngest picture to oldest picture. I'll let dutchman tell you what each picture is. All the pictures should be under 450X450 so hopefully they wont be deleted, at least photobucket told me they were.

here they are....
