Posted August 5, 200816 yr okay I am venting ( doing an Av lol, Jokes Av ) I was out and about today looking for birds, not to buy but to guess their mutations and look for show ones... EVERYWHERE I WENT THEY HAD SCALEYFACE!!!! Grrrrrrrrrr Tell me is it really that bloo dy Hard to treat Honestly.... Pet Shops, Breeders, ARGGGHHHH I was going to take this Large Grey TCB Hen home with me, No food No water Respitory infection But happy . I spoke to the guy and asked why she had no food or water, Oh and then he went and filled all the birds seed and water up ... So i decided that Once Dyan is in School I am going to work in a pet store!!!!!! Poor animals ... But most were in good condition at the pet stores, Maily pulled tails from over crowed cages .. Lovely YF Blue Hen Show type Big Head long mask, had flecking on her blow ( i think that is what it is called lol ) I wanted her so bad, But why is she there, My luck infertile .... A guy is selling up all his Birds Shows and pets about 25 of them along with his avairy which is huge and has a builtin bird room set up with breeding cages and everything $1500 for the lot - I would take the avairy and set up But those birds O M G One hen but was hanging out, the guy goes yeah probably egg bound I talk him to give her a drop of calicum and keep her warm other wise she will die - Response .. Yeah well I am not in that hobby any more : If i had the $$$$ I would just grap them all and treat them and WHY ON EARTH !!!! do people own pets that can't BE BOTHERED to care for them ARRRGGGHHHHH... I am sooo angry that I am crying - Seriously, How hard can it be to care for something rather then leave it .... I feel that I am now going to look at the resuce centres and get advice on becomming a sanctuary for Birds. But I just don't have the time for more then what I can handle which is roughly 30 I think is my limit ...... Why, Thanks for letting me vent guys!!!!!!
August 5, 200816 yr Neat there are some real assssss****** inthe world you just be careful who you front it can turn nasty i know it has happened top me
August 5, 200816 yr This is why I try to stay away from pet shops that have birds, although I have seen a lot of so called professional breeders (in it for the money more like it) with some really crappy / sick looking birds.
August 5, 200816 yr Hey... *runs off to vent about neat saying I vent to much * Honey I am so there with you. I worry that I do not take care of my birds well enough and I have around the 25 - 30 mark and spent at least 3 hours a day just doing feed and water. I have taken on resuce birds and have tried to help and is sicken and saddens me when you see things like this happening. As you have told me so many times before all we can do is support and educate and hope we are doing the right thing for the birds *hugs*
August 5, 200816 yr Can i come and work with you Neat???? I dont know what they do to there birds to make them look this way. Every time i go into a petshop the birds look so scrawny and yuck but even my babies always look nice and full and plump??? They really have to let the go alot for them to look this bad! But hang on a second neat.......... You went bird hunting with out me????? Thats it! Our friendship is over!!! Lol you will be forgiven if you come to the next meeting with me
August 5, 200816 yr Aww how horrible Hugs Neat!!!! I know it sounds mean, but we can't save them all, but we can certainly try! I reckon you'll become a bird haven one day
August 5, 200816 yr Author Thanks guys, didn't think anyone would reply as I was sooo REVED lol ... No bird shopping just trying to educate myself - I know I can't save them all Try is what I can do - But i wouldn't risk the life of many to save the life of one if that makes sense it may seem heartless But i couldn't bring home a cage full of birds with go d knows what ..... I am soo with you all on the breeder thing too That is what I am mostly ANGRY about! But hey It's none of my business It just makes me more dedicated to insure that mine are in the best health that I can give ... Thanks for listening guys XXX

I understand you there - i had to make the horrible decision to leave a sick bird in a pet shop as i didn't want to risk my flock by bringing in some yucky diseases. You did the right thing to leave them. Perhaps ringing the RSPCA and reporting the dodgie places will help - Thats what i did
