Posted August 1, 200817 yr I gave my budgies clippings (bottle brush, eucalyptus etc) which they had for a few days and then I gave them fruit and vegs and noticed that with the intake of fruit and vegs thier droppings get extremely runny. Is this normal with the intake of fruit and vegs and I have noticed It's only one bird that the fruit and veg has taken the affect on. Is it normal??? They love there veges too much to not give it too them.
August 1, 200817 yr The added moisture in the fresh food can give them funny runny poop. As long as it returns to normal within a day, then everything is okay
August 2, 200817 yr Author Cool thanks, but why would it only affect Blue and not Molly??? Edited August 2, 200817 yr by Cara
August 2, 200817 yr Cool thanks, but why would it only affect Blue and not Molly??? Blue might eat more of the 'watery' fruit and veggies than Molly... This would mean his are watery and her's are not.
August 2, 200817 yr Author No I don't feed them that stuff. They get carrot, zuchini, peas, corn, beans, broccoli, capsicum etc. Lettuce and celery don't really have any nuitritional value there really only made up of water.

August 2, 200817 yr one time after Bing had had his carrot, his poos went very watery with virtually just urine coming out, but after about 15 mins he was fine...
August 2, 200817 yr I also think just like our own digestive systems everyone is different so his body may have to adjust to the change more then hers, just keep an eye on them and any behavior changes.
August 2, 200817 yr Balloon goes mad for the eucaliptus- has pulled the one I gave her to bits in 2 days. I have never noticed any side affects. Check all plant material for any signs of bugs and make sure they are clean before adding to the cage, but I give all my birds plenty off fresh fruit and vegies- along with the seed. And pelleted food for Chicko (Indian Ringneck). They all seem to love it- The budgies have been going for the celery a lot latley...Just make sure you take it out at the end of the day so it doesn't go bad.
August 3, 200817 yr Really .... I didn't know about Celery LOL, Glad I give them the Leafy stuff and not the other stuff YUK, I hate celery that is why I won't give them the stalks LOL ... Agree that the mixes of Fruits and Vegies are making them have runner poo, are you making sure that you are washing the fruits and Vegs and any leaves and Cutting brfore putting in to the aviary? If not this could be the case too - Also worming
August 3, 200817 yr Author Yah I make sure that all thier fresh food and thier eucalyptus etc is washed 2 - 3 times before I give it too them and also I worm them monthly like it says on the back of the bottle. I just wormed them yesturday too. But everything seems to be fine with Blue now maybe it was just the sudden change from cuttings to the fresh food. I don't now.
August 4, 200817 yr Sudden changes in their food can do this .... That is why I was ruling out the other :hap: Glad to hear all is good
