August 23, 200816 yr Author Finally here are my beautiful babies (all going well!!) Being I'm not sure whether that worked I certainly hope so.
August 23, 200816 yr :hap: Awwwwwwwwwwwwww How cute!!!!! I can't wait to get my breeding back up ( all are getting their Vits & etc ) getting them into healthy condition before I start :hap:
August 23, 200816 yr Author Finally after many attempts to get the right size here we are. Ended up saving the photo to photobucket completely again using the right size as every time I tried to adjust the original photo size it didn't want to work. So here are my babies when they were much smaller. These photo's seems to be going in the wrong direction. Next photo that I post will be when they're a little older and back to going in the right direction.
August 23, 200816 yr Author Here's a close up of my Blue baby which I didn't think I would get as the green is the dominent colour. So it was a nice surprise.
August 23, 200816 yr Hi Carolyn, It sounds like everything is going well. Don't fret too much about losing your first chick to a maiden hen, it's quite common, in fact it happened to me too at the beginning of this breeding season. The trick is to have foster parents ready to take over when you're 'breaking in' a new hen ... but this is not always possible and like you've found, usually by the time the second chick hatches the mum gets the hang of things. Also it's a fact of life that the chicks from the maiden round are often not as good as subsequent clutches simply because by the time they get to do it again the experience factor kicks in and they're much better feeders. So good luck and happy breeding!
August 24, 200816 yr Author Thanks everyone for your replies, I'm still thrilled when people actually take the time to send replies to my posts. Hey neat if you read this I don't think the blue is yellow face it may just be the photo colouring?? Or maybe I will be shocked as her head and face feather become more prominate. I will post some more photos as soon as it is a bit more clear. Am excited as I was able to pair up 3 more pair and have two whose eggs are due to hatch in the next couple of days and the last pair who I only paired up about 2 weeks ago laid their first egg today. Exciting times ahead! Carolyn alias: Budgielover13
August 24, 200816 yr Very sweet... and you got that photo up too... Sometimes some photos are just a pain. It doesn't matter how many times you try and resize... it just doesn't work... Are you keeping all the bubs, or selling them?
August 24, 200816 yr It could be my monitor but looks creamy to me Either way they are beautiful All babies are There is a Baby Budgie Photo Competition I am sure you will enter Here ---->IS THE LINK Look forward to updated pics :D : D Congrats on the other pairs going down and laying so quickly for you Just goes to show when you get them in the Right conditions Do you keep your Boys & Girls together or are they in separate flights before breeding???
August 25, 200816 yr Author Hi guys, (hope you don't mind being called guys) Firstly Maesie I will be keeping these bubs as I only have just under 30 budgies with a new avairy being build as I type I will have quite a bit of room for some more. I need to populate just a little. Next, Neat I keep both hen and cocks together, there are so many mixed opinions on what is the best to do. I know some say that keeping them together they tend to couple up and not every often with the birds you are going to pair them up with so it takes longer for the pairing to breed, then there's those who say that when they are seperated that they loose interest in each other. So who knows what is best. I've never really had any trouble with breeding when hen and cocks are in the same avairy.
August 29, 200816 yr Yeah that is the same thing I get too mixed opnions :hap: so how are those fluffy bundles of joy going?????
August 30, 200816 yr Lovely... I have trouble letting go of the bubs. I have kept my first two clutches but my last one I gave two bubs to family friends... but it's still hard It's great when you can watch them grow into adults.
September 8, 200816 yr Author Here are some more photos now that they have feathered up. This is the normal blue which looked a little like a yellow face in the earlier photo. He's the oldest chick. Here's my middle chick. And finally the baby, well they're all babies but you know what I mean. I've been told that the blue seems to have good depth of body but I wouldn't have any idea as yet, I've got so much to learn and also I was only told this off some photos and they can be a little deceptive so give him a few more weeks and I'll have to take him along to a club meeting for some true life options. But here's hoping he turns out to be an alright sort.
