Cheapest Visa Card?

Featured Replies

After my previous post, it got me wondering if anyone here has a really good cheap credit card they could recommend? I am sick to death of paying huge interest rates. I've been on the net checking them all out and I'm totally confused!!

LOL, Been there done that 4 years later and I paid it off worst thing I did when i was 18 LOL... So don't get a CBA one

Just get one that's attached to your savings account. Can still use it like a credit card but can only spend what money you have in the account.

That's the one I have! Going to cancel it and find a much cheaper one!! ( I hope :D )

Have you looked at the ING and Credit Unions. I know that their interest rates differ from NORMAL banks, Maybe worth a looky at

Thanks Neat, will look into them.

We are with Newcastle Permament Building society and i think they are in your area and our interest rate on our visa card is only 11.84%.

have you checked out paypal? they offer a credit card attached to the regular account.

I like NAB- mine I chose a $500 limit and weekly I spend it and replace it the next. I find that I don't get charged interest much as I never leave the ballance there long enough to worry. Also can be linked to Fly Buys to earn extra points.

okay here is a site that looks at the major banks http://www.creditcards247au.com/

just watch St George as they are being bought out by westpac

I still love Wizard http://www.wizard.com.au/creditcards/default.aspx

I had one card through them but had to close all mine due to the fact that I had like 5 (don't ask) i am $2,000 off paying off the last of a $35,000 credit card debit. At which time I will get a wizard one again for a few grand. if you travel the only way to go for this reason

"No annual fee. No fees for ATM withdrawals, cash advances or overseas purchases. The same interest rate on purchases AND cash (unlike some other credit cards). Up to 55 days interest free."

I go to the states each year for a few weeks and could rack up about $3000 in conversion fees for using a credit card overseas, with wizard I never got charged anything. Their rates are as low as 4% and as high as 18%

If you roll your existing remaining balance from your card to st george or ANZ you get a intrest free period which will help. When the period is over roll it to say the next one on the list, this will save you intrest for a year and that can be alot. On a $2000 card you pay around $110 per month so that is almost $1500 a year you save which is alot!

My advice is to roll onto a cheaper system for the next 12 months and then i would get a wizard card, they where always really great and very helpful, their sales people and customer service at 3am when I am in the states and forgot my pin they really helped me out. Also i forgot to tell them once when i was going overseas and I purchased something in Hong Kong, 15 mins later they rang to check that I had made the transaction which I thought was great service!

Credit cards can be deadly. I got myself into trouble with credit cards when I was younger, thankfully I paid them all off and now I just have a VIsa Debit Card, much safer.

Yes I know Denise. But it comes in handy when you need to buy new appliances in a hurry as we had to do unfortunately. Fingers crossed we wont have the need for anything else (unless of course I need something for my birds!) and we can save some money for a change.

Yeah, they do come in handy for that. Over the years I put a bit of money away in a seperate account and call it my applliance account for that sort of thing....had to use it big time last year so I need to build it up again ^_^

One of the reasons I loved Wizard was that if it sat there for a year and did not get used then it did not cost me anything ^_^

Try a Visa Debit Card St George Bank have one. (By the way thats where I work ^_^)
