Posted July 29, 200816 yr i was told that if i'm gonna show any of my birds, that i am in need of little black boxes. where do i get these how much will they cost? thanks
July 29, 200816 yr Ask through any budgerigar clubs as someone may have some for sale. You can also buy them in kit form through, I think, the budgerigar council of victoria and they post them out...you assemble and paint. Have you joined a club yet ? Thats the first step. Legringing your chicks then becomes important and you will need to be a club member and order legrings too. PS you may have to rethink your aviary breeding if you want to show birds as you will have to cabinet breed your showbirds top be sure of parentage. July 29, 200816 yr i was told that if i'm gonna show any of my birds, that i am in need of little black boxes. where do i get these how much will they cost?thanks The average price for a show cage is $30.00. Make sure they're in tip top condition as you can be penalised at a show for presenting budgies in "marked cages". You can also buy them in kit form from Brian Page, tel no:03 5428 1334.
July 29, 200816 yr Ahhhh - Now when you say PAINT THEM!, is there a specific colour? or can paint it any colour
July 29, 200816 yr Ahhhh - Now when you say PAINT THEM!, is there a specific colour? or can paint it any colour It's very specific. The outside is black, including the front; the inside is white. We got the best results with high gloss paint. Perches are not to be painted. Try contacting a new-found friend from your club and ask them if you can visit their aviary, while you're there ask them to look at a show cage.i was told that if i'm gonna show any of my birds, that i am in need of little black boxes. where do i get these how much will they cost?thanksIn all honesty Neat, if you're just looking to get one or two it's worth paying up to $35.00 for a good show cage. We wanted to upgrade last year and ordered 10 in kit form simply because WA was hosting the Nationals and NOBODY had any for sale. We paid $22.50 per kit form show cage but by the time you add on the cost of the paint and the many, many hours my hubby spent putting them together .... I think $30 is a bargain.
July 30, 200816 yr i was told that if i'm gonna show any of my birds, that i am in need of little black boxes. where do i get these how m.uch will they cost?than+9ks You will need to become a member of a club & buy club rings & they will need to be on the bird,if you are going to show & the rings need to be put on the birds while they are chicks & they need to be show quailty.Iwould have at a guess, you have plenty of time to get your show cages, :hap:
July 30, 200816 yr Also the old cages can't be used at shows anymore. You have to make sure they have the little screw that goes through the top middle of the front. :hap:
July 30, 200816 yr Bugger, Black, Well at least it will go with their eyes :hap: Yeah I am doingmy background work on the show Ummm MB, Please explain Screws ? Huh :hap:
July 30, 200816 yr See at the top of the wire front in the middle. There is a little screw that goes through the wood and presses the top of the wire. Older boxes without this can't be used in show, still fine for training purposes though Edited July 30, 200816 yr by melbournebudgies
