Posted July 28, 200816 yr hey guys was just wondering if a hen that is NOT in breeding condition would be interested in the nest box, i have a hen in a breeding cage at the moment and she is in and out of the box all day but seems to be playing hard to get with the male, what do you think?
July 28, 200816 yr I have put hens down who're not in the "ready" condition but once interested they soon change into condition and do as well as the others. It helps to have a few pairs down at anyone time to get each other interested.
July 28, 200816 yr Author I was told she was when i got her, she is in with Jack now and though there is a bit of squarking going on she seems more interested in him than any of the others, there is some beak clicking and sweet talk when she stays still long enough but no grooming or kissing, i think one of the perches is to small and unstable though so i might change that Would you believe it as i am typing this i look over and he is feeding her
July 28, 200816 yr You can be suprised how quick the cere changes once that nest box is in I have a hen that will breed when her cere isn't in " Breeding Condition" Got aby pics of the lovely Couple
July 28, 200816 yr Author Here is some pics of the new couple, Betty is in her box again sorting things out and Jack is just sort of watching all this like he is not sure of quite what is going on, i hope he gets the idea cause i have high hopes for this bird
