Posted July 26, 200816 yr Must be something in the air up here as my first pair of cockatiels I've ever owned have started to breed with one egg so far! Then next door to them is my pair of Major Mitchells which were checking the next box out!! So I'm going to be inundated with chicks of all sizes in just a few short weeks!!!! :budgiedance:

IF i ever get another Cocky (since leroy is sexist and doesn't like women) I want a mitchell, you're definatly the woman to buy seeing how much love care and attention you give them :( Hi Libby - yes I will be handrearing this lot. (The photo is from last years clutch) They are just checking the nest out at the moment!! They make wonderful pets, I keep in touch with one particular woman who bought one and she says he is almost human! She has ordered another from me this year as well!!
July 27, 200816 yr Oh lovely, you're sooooo lucky to be able to breed such majestic cocky's, i mean i own a galah and a sulfur, but being able to breed those two would be a whole other experience.... Given that cocky's live to a large amount of years when do they mature to be old enough to breed and up until when? How old are your pair/s?

How old are your pair/s? Hi Libby When I bought this pair, I never thought they would breed as readily as they do! They are absolutely stunning and I love them very much!! My pair are about 4-5 years old. Im not exactly sure how long they breed for but I would imagine it would be for a few more years yet! They live longer than humans I am told!!
July 27, 200816 yr Yep I'm settled in for the long yards! Leroy(my sulfue) is meant to live over 100 for average life span and my cocky is meant to be over 80ish My neice has already be set inline for taking them both on :hap:
July 27, 200816 yr LIbby you are lucky that you have someone that is ready to step up and take them on. that is my biggest fear with getting a larger bird what will happen to him when I am gone. jenene283 - do keep us updated would love to see the pictures!
