Hello and welcome :)

We love pictures and we would love to see pictures of your birds.

Good luck with your little guy who has splayed legs. Keep us posted on his progress :)

Hi Linda and welcome :) Are you sure about the splayed legs ? If it definitely is and you are about to help the baby out, please also administer by beak a drop of calcivet per day for at least 7-10 days. This also will help. Once you have the sponge on, post a picture so I can help you with adjustments. :)

Like Kaz said are you sure that it is splayed legs? If you can post a picture as include the joint to :D

I thought my baby had splayed legs once, But it wasn't he was just too full to walk lol...

If it is splayed legs, make sure that there is nesting materials in the box, also a good point which was made to me by a vet is some breeding boxes are made with a Malamine flooring ( smooth finish) this isn't good as it prevents the chick getting grip on the floor leading them it do the splits so to speak,

Thank you all for welcome, pretty sure it is splayed legs as it looks like the ones in photos, but the bottem of the nest box is smoth so I put some rolled oats in there but mum keeps throwing everthing out from near the babies.I will post some pics of baby in couple of days as just been down to Doctors and had to have an ingrown toe nail removed so am off my feet for a couple of days and can't get out to take pics.

thanks again Linda

oh dear, l had both my big toenails removed (not the whole nail just the sides and they put a chemical to kill the nail roots) because of them being ingrown. it is no fun. hope you feel better soon (((((((hugs)))))))

Try putting an inch layer of natural kitty litter in there...then some wood shavings on top of that. She wont be able to move all that in a hurry. :P

PS hope your toe is better soon :D

Wood shavings is sold for pet bedding at petshops. But you can also use bran, or rolled oats for your top layer. :P

Welcome aboard, you have received excellent advice.
