Posted July 24, 200816 yr Ken took me to buy some more birds the other day from my favourite breeder. Ken initially had a hidden budget and dealt with the breeder. I expected to come home with about 6 birds. Partway through the transaction, the breeder asked if others wanted birds too and I thought about Libby and The Pie...so I said yes for them. A deal was struck and I came home with nearly 50 birds....a selection for me and some others for Libby and some for Pie and a couple for Dave. Here is an assortment of photos of some of the birds. I am not sure which is which right now, some are mine and some Pie's and Libbys. I will have to check my paperwork to see which is which when it comes time to work it all out. But here is some of them and you can see they are pretty good birds. Plump and healthy...lovely birds. Mostly green rings and a couple of gold rings....thats last years and the year befores. July 24, 200816 yr Author 50!!!!!!!! wow kaz that is amazing they are lovely birds, nice and big, i envy you being able to have some many. I adore the little pet size birds but absolutly love the big chunky ones they just seem so proud and showy, i cant wait to breed my club birds.Good luck with your new additions and let us know what your plans for them are The birds seem to have plans for themselves already Charlie. There has been some goings on going on in the holding cages. One grey green opaline spangle cock had a DF white spangle cock pinned to the cage floor over a hen they both liked, so I took him out along with the hen he was so besotted with and put them in a breeder cage. Then I had second thoughts that his chosen hen wasnt really the right hen for him. So I found a better hen. I put her in the cage with him and he immediately went into romance mode...head bobbing and singing to her face...doing his dance steps and crooning away like a real smoothie. What did the new hen do ? Well she took three steps sideways and peered into the nestbox, took another step and stuck her head in the nestbox. Then, as quick as a wink she sidestepped a few paces towards the cock, bowed low over the perch and stuck her tail in the air and waited for him. What did he do ?? He then sidled up to her and whispered sweet nothings in her ears and sang to her again, head bobbed a bit and sang some more. He didnt figure out she was an easy hen in those first few moments. Lets hope he has it worked out by morning...she's hot and ready for him. These birds amaze me sometimes :fear Edited July 24, 200816 yr by KAZ
July 24, 200816 yr :fear Heres hoping he gets the idea soon Its funny how some birds get straight in to things and others just don't have a clue. I have Betty Blue and Fred in a breeding cage now, she has been in and out of the box all day but is barely looking at poor Fred who knows exactly what he is supposed to do

We don't have a set-up to be able to do with you and others do and an outside aviary is not going to happen in our climate, plus the birds that are bred here well they are not like those over there.
July 24, 200816 yr Congratulations on your coup Kaz. Isnt it great to have a partner who shares your passion and spoils you. I know I certainly appreciate it! Lovely looking birds :fear
