Some Of The New Guys N Gals

Ken took me to buy some more birds the other day from my favourite breeder. Ken initially had a hidden budget and dealt with the breeder. I expected to come home with about 6 birds. Partway through the transaction, the breeder asked if others wanted birds too and I thought about Libby and The Pie...so I said yes for them. A deal was struck and I came home with nearly 50 birds....a selection for me and some others for Libby and some for Pie and a couple for Dave.

Here is an assortment of photos of some of the birds. I am not sure which is which right now, some are mine and some Pie's and Libbys. I will have to check my paperwork to see which is which when it comes time to work it all out.

But here is some of them and you can see they are pretty good birds. Plump and healthy...lovely birds. Mostly green rings and a couple of gold rings....thats last years and the year befores.

The birds seem to have plans for themselves already Charlie. There has been some goings on going on in the holding cages. :P

One grey green opaline spangle cock 2d9caacf.jpg

had a DF white spangle cock pinned to the cage floor over a hen they both liked, so I took him out along with the hen he was so besotted with and put them in a breeder cage. Then I had second thoughts that his chosen hen wasnt really the right hen for him. So I found a better hen. I put her in the cage with him and he immediately went into romance mode...head bobbing and singing to her face...doing his dance steps and crooning away like a real smoothie. What did the new hen do ?

Well she took three steps sideways and peered into the nestbox, took another step and stuck her head in the nestbox. 3e184b7e.jpg

Then, as quick as a wink she sidestepped a few paces towards the cock, bowed low over the perch and stuck her tail in the air and waited for him.

What did he do ?? He then sidled up to her and whispered sweet nothings in her ears and sang to her again, head bobbed a bit and sang some more. He didnt figure out she was an easy hen in those first few moments. Lets hope he has it worked out by morning...she's hot and ready for him.

These birds amaze me sometimes :fear

:fear Heres hoping he gets the idea soon Its funny how some birds get straight in to things and others just don't have a clue. I have Betty Blue and Fred in a breeding cage now, she has been in and out of the box all day but is barely looking at poor Fred who knows exactly what he is supposed to do

I didn't see my name on there Kaz...I talked to Merlin he would love that white one :fear they are beautiful and Pie, Libby and Dave are so blessed to have someone thinking of them.

Some good looking birds Kaz, you should be doing even better at the shows soon.

Yeah I know how you feel Elly, I didn’t see any mention of my name either. :fear

We will have to do it the hard way Elly…breed our own…you better get a gal for Merlin.

Norm

I m sure you have many quality birds. Nice to let some of us end up with a few if we are lucky.

Don’t know about that Dave, some of us haven’t got the connections that some have …LOL…

WOW Kaz!! Congratulations on your massive budgie number increase!!!! They all look so lovely too :fear

We don't have a set-up to be able to do with you and others do and an outside aviary is not going to happen in our climate, plus the birds that are bred here well they are not like those over there.

Congratulations on your coup Kaz. Isnt it great to have a partner who shares your passion and spoils you. I know I certainly appreciate it! Lovely looking birds :fear :P

Kaz can I switch partners with you? Mine is a computer geek who loves cats.... still trying to convert him to the Budgie side of the force but no luck so far! :)

Nice looking birds can't wait to see the outcomes.

You live too far away Norm. Pie and Libby live here and Dave is visiting soon. But you can send me a shopping list :)

Seeing Dave is heading your way, i might have to send him with a shopping list for me.

Very nice; I will be happy with any of them!! All boxed up like an early birthday present!! (or maybe a 'birth' present LOL)

Thankyou thankyou :)

I'm over the moon also :)

I only have 2 show type green birds, a DF spangle hen from you who's a bob Levy bird and a Posthuma Recessive pied cock so these birds will be welcome additions, with a lovely affordable price tag, which makes them even better :)

Kaz, I am afraid the only one I like is the White DF :) ...

I am not a green person LOL, I guess I will have to be soon if I cam going to breed Good sizes though LOL
