Featured Replies

okay so my breeding room will be finished on the weekend so next week I am going to put down the following four pairs and see what I get out of them. If anyone thinks I should switch them around then let me know also idea on what the babies will look like then please have a stab in the dark for me.

Pair one HeMan and SheRa

Pair Two Mozzie and Fiji

Pair three Blue and Flame

I am also thinking of putting Harley and Storm back in together

She has smashed eggs in the past but Harley seems to love her so I hope that given a month in the avairy she may be more settled and will not smash them this time around.

So thoughts questions comments ideas would be great.

Oh and the reason for pairing them like this is this is how they have paired up in the aviary so figure for my first round I will let nature take it's course with pairing but if you think it would be better to pair them up another way let me know.

Aviary pairings can still produce some gorgeous chicks :D

I got my fluke fallow from an aviary pair I didn't even know were split :D

For the first two photo's can you tell me what mutations they're so I can tell ya :) Photo's are a bit hard to see :P

HeMan and SheRa I have no clue they are on lone from MB so might have to ask her ;) (I suck at mutations)

Fiji is a YF2 cobalt spangle & Mozzie is a normal green

Blue is a DF dom pied and Flame is a Lutino

Harley is a Blue Normal and Storm is a mauve normal

okay well one of them looks like a cinnamon RP perhaps YF... can't tell the other one... would need a closer picture ;)

okay as for outcomes...

First pair (can't tell you yet)

second pair : unless the green is split to blue you'll get green normal and green spangles, if split blue you'll get those aswell as yf2 normals and yf2 spangles, and blue normals and blue spangles (this is exclusing all hidden genes they may have).

third pair: 100% dom pieds all cocks split to ino. If flame is not split to blue all babies with be green series... (excluding any hidden genes again)

fourth pair: grey normals and mauve normals perhaps also cobalt normals (depending on level of grey the cock bird is)

Any better pictures? Bird on the right is definatly recessive?

okay, then repeat everything I just said but it's recessive pied ;) I have both in my aviary so I couldn't really remmeber what that one was. Also the cock may be greywing from recollection but AV can confirm that

Libby sorry this picture of Harley confuses everyone he is a normal Blue not a grey as the picture froma camera phone makes him look.

MB will have to have a look over the next few days at the first pair

I have this picture if it helps.

He may have blue/grey body colour but his throat spots are grey...

Indicating he's a definate grey...

greys can have blue throat spots, but blues can't have greys

Any back photo's of that pair?

No he is a blue I swear... MB back me up here!

I will have to wait till next week and I catch HeMan and SheRa to get back pictures sorry.

While we are on pairs I have some good news regarding the first BBBP pair (the grey hen with ricketts with the black mark and a VERY dirty opaline cock). I was holding a nest box at one of the doors on the new breeding cage trying to work out the best way to attach it and she took one look at it and sidled over and tried o get into it, the cock is also feeding her and smooching all over her so I hink she'll have a good go at breeding for us. Gonna pluck their vents this aro and put a box on for them :D

I would love a better picture, you haven't convinced me yet that he isn't grey :) maybe a trip to Melbourne would be the best way.
