I would really love some comments on the pairs I am thinking of putting together next.

Nirvana and Aphrodite

Karma and Ripper

Buddy and Holly - my blue tcbs

They are great pairs. The only one i can comment on is Karma and Ripper, They are both YF2 so you will get DF YF (white faced chicks). Is that what you want???

Look pretty good parings to me Sunnie, lets hope you have lots of success. Sounds like you have the same problem as me waiting on cabinets to put pairs down. Even though I have something like 30 & wish I had more, I just built another 6 but still have pairs I would love to try out, but must wait, don’t think I should build any more.

Liv I thought about that, but I am under the impression I will get some yf's as well as whites? I would like to know more about this. I will probably still put them together though as even if I dont get the colour outcome I want in this generation, they are still good for size etc and I will have to add a cinnamon cock next generation to get her cinnamon 'diulteness'.

 

Thanks Norm. I only have about 7 cabinets at the moment and Adam is going to build a few more to accommodate some of my newer birds and get the breeding happening - so we're not out of control there yet! LOL

I think those are excellent pairs !

 

DF yf2 don't have white faces, only yf1 do.

You'll get a very low percentage of white face from that pairing, prodiminatly YF2 and some whiteface which didn't get the gene

25% true white face

50% single factor Yellow Faces

 

Those are the % if you are interested

 

Also I have recently learned that the Double Face in a YF2 will give you still a lemon colored face

The Double Factor YF1 is the one that gives you the white face only

Yes that's true, the DF yf2 gives a more lighter yellowface colouring on the face and splotchy uneven light colouring on the body, very cute though

I don't know much re: the show standards - But they will all have very pretty babies

Breeding those pairs,you will have plenty of Y/F.

outcome - YF grey opalines (hens) YF grey spangle opalines (hens) yf greys, yf grey spangles, grey spangels, grey opalines (hens) . Keep in mind the offspring of these two as you will have some as DF greys which you can not tell apart from SF greys. the grey gene can take over your flock if not watched. also the hen looks cinnamon so the males will be split.

2) YF blue opalines, YF blue spangle opalines , yf blue, yf blue spangles, blue spangles, blue opalines. she looks cinnamon as well is this right?

3) Buddy looks just like my Tootie. YF TBC, YF TBC dom pied, TBC normals, TBC dom pied. Hens will be opalines.

Thanks for the tip about the greys, I will keep that in mind.

2) Yes she is also cinnamon, and I hope to produce some more cinnamons from her 2nd generation (have been chatting to Libby about how to achieve this
