July 23, 200817 yr ivermectin would be your best treatment. perhaps ring your local budgie club and ask them if there are any breeders in your area. they should be able to help you with treatment.

Most breeders will be happy to help young ones. You could offer to help clean an aviary or help with feeding etc, in return for a dose of ivermectin. But i am sure there would be a breeder who would be happy just to give you a little (you only need a tiny amount) Edited July 23, 200817 yr by **Liv**

July 23, 200817 yr You could always call your vet and ask for the trestment no need to take the bird in. I just call my vet and say that I am out could he supply me with another bottle and it cost me about $5 - $10 a bottle wil last you ages. Some feed stores / pet stores do also have it in stock so check with them if you can't find a breeder.
July 24, 200817 yr Your best bet is to take the bird to the vet to treat it as Ivermic can be leathal if given the wrong dosage!
July 24, 200817 yr Your best bet is to take the bird to the vet to treat it as Ivermic can be leathal if given the wrong dosage! Really neat? How so, I have been told to use it on the back of the neck one drop. Buddy tipped a bottle over myself and him, I gave him a bath but have seen no ill effects. My Vet tells me I can use it once a week if I really want so as long as you get it mixed for Budgies then I see no issue. Most vets can do this or can put you in touch with a vet that can.
July 24, 200817 yr My Avain Vet along with Many Members here has both advise me that it can be lethal ! That is why it isn't sold in shops ( well here in NSW it isn't ) It can only be purcahsed Via Avain vets - with monitored purchases. It is extrenly lethal if given incorrectly!!! That is why I advised a young member, to seek her vet help as this would be the first time using it !! Edited July 24, 200817 yr by Neat
July 24, 200817 yr Very advisable as Neat has said to be cautious especially as this is a young member we are talking about. I have double dosed birds accidentally with no ill effects however. BUT there seems little point in buying a quantity to do hundreds of birds where just one is involved. The suggestion to find a breeder nearby who would be helpful and dose the bird is a good idea. Failing that, back to the cotton gloves to prevent bites and rub oil over the beak avoiding the nostrils. If in doubt, go to the vet. Petshops are not the place for the best of advise or for selling meds.
July 24, 200817 yr I think you need to get onto a forum in England, there is a fair chance there is someone just around the corner, that could help you,
