Posted July 21, 200816 yr Hey everyone, my pair have just laid eggs and some have hatched.... anyway im wondering (if i supply a picture) if there is any way you guys being the experts can tell me from the parents what sex the babys will be from their colours? thanks
July 21, 200816 yr We will be able to tell the sex of the chicks if you can post clear pictures of their cere (without using flash) Some of us can tell the gender from as young as 2-3 weeks old Look forward to the pictures
July 21, 200816 yr Agree with Liv on that one - Also some sexes can be estimated on the mutation of the parents But not all so a picture of the babies cere is a must
July 21, 200816 yr give us pictures of the parents and we can give idea of the type of offspring to expect but we would need pictures of the babies cere from age 3 weeks and onwards to be able to tell the gender, unless there was a sex linked trait involed.
July 22, 200816 yr Author http://i234.photobucket.com/albums/ee247/r...rl/DSCF0071.jpg heres a picture of the parents, the 1st chick ive seen would be 3 days old, how old are they when they open their eyes? thanks Edited July 22, 200816 yr by **Liv** photo turned to link because it was over the size regulation of 640x480, resize before posting images again
July 22, 200816 yr Your hen is a Yellow Face (YF) type 2 (which means the yellow bleeds into the body colour) Your male is a normal sky blue. They both look really nice and healthy but we will not be able to tell the gender of any of their chicks yet, because neither parent is showing sex linked genetics. When the chicks are about 3 weeks old, post a clear picture of their little faces and we should be able to tell what you have p.s. are your birds breeding in the basket??
July 22, 200816 yr I hope you arent using a finch nest ( basket ) for chicks....its way too small to raise a family in IT also sounds like you have embarked upon breeding with no real knowledge of what to expect....here is some good reading for you http://forums.budgiebreeders.asn.au/faqs/i...are%20of%20baby Edited July 22, 200816 yr by KAZ
July 22, 200816 yr Author Thanks to those for the useful info, ill post up some pics when its a bit older :)and thanks to those for jumping to conclusions. i had a pair of finches in that cage before i got the budgies. the Budgies have a rather roomy nest box. and FOR YOUR INFORMATION, my father and i have had Budgies bofore, but not for many years, so maybe before jumping to conclusions and driving people away by assuming they know nothing you should ask them what they do know. Edited July 22, 200816 yr by *libby* Changed FYI to for your information. Please stick forum guidelines on acceptable text shortcuts.

July 22, 200816 yr No offence taken and i apologise if i came across as being abit abrupt but you really shouldnt assume that everyone that gets on here gets on here because they dont know anything. but anyway group hug????? No one is assuming anything. We are all here to help others and do not think that everyone on here knows nothing. Many members here are very experienced in breeding and always have the health and well being of YOUR birds at heart. The flip side is that there are also many inexperienced breeders here who do come here looking for advice (and don't always ask the right questions). Now, if we were to assume everyone here knows what they are doing, then aren't we letting down those people and their birds?!?! BUT... Back on topic... your birds look very healthy and I hope the babies are doing well. Are you keeping the babies? I have chicks myself (5, the youngest who is a month old). July 22, 200816 yr Tame ringnecks... nice I guess you could always keep one of the bubs in another cage and let them become friends and play together (under supervision of course )
July 22, 200816 yr I will give you a hug ................................ there you go. Dont worry sometimes things come across the wrong way. I have had it happen to me too. I hope that you will keep coming to the site because it is very helpful if you ever need anything just post a message and guaranteed you will get a reply. Its my budgie lifeline!
