Posted July 20, 200817 yr Well as if I didn't have enough on y plate with kids, new job, wedding and new breeding room being built my washing machine took it's last breath today I'll have to take a load to the laundromatte tomorrow as there is too much for me to hand wash. I really can't afford a new one until after the wedding so I'll just have to hand wash until then.
July 20, 200817 yr that sucks, I can't live with out a washer with kids, did you try craiglsist? does it reach to you? you can find a lot of great deals there.
July 20, 200817 yr Author Never heard of Craigslist, I'm gonna ask on freecycle in case someone has an old one that will do for a couple of months.
July 20, 200817 yr What a bummer!!!!! and things like that happen at the WORST possible time Ours blew up this time last year. 2 days before Hubby was leaving for the UK, and just after we moved into our new house and were totally broke!!! Why cant a washing machine get it into its thick tub, that we want them to break down when we DON'T need them urgently, and have money to replace them!!!
July 20, 200817 yr I know they are located overseas too check it out it is just a local listing of people selling things, type in craiglist in the search engine. Also it may not be a serious issue what is the machine doing? My husband just had to replace the pump in it so it was very simple at times it is a simple part that can be fixed for less cost.
July 20, 200817 yr Author I must say though, I bought it second hand 7 years ago for $50 and we only expected it to last a year or two so it's served us well. It's the thing that turns the tub (it's a toploader), the centre part is spinning but the tubs not moving and it's making a grinding noise. It's probably a belt or something but I'm not savvy enough to do anythig about it and OH isn't in Melbourne until August to look at it. Edited July 20, 200817 yr by melbournebudgies
July 20, 200817 yr a belt is very cheap even with s service person to put it in but it probably would be as much as you paid for it but if you could do it yourself it would only be probably around 20.00
July 20, 200817 yr Author My OH could do it but it's too heavy for me on my own. I think there may be a problem with the pump too as the tub is currently full of water and I can't get it to drain. I have turned it off at the power for the moment but I'll try to get it to drain again in a little while.
July 20, 200817 yr It is the pump then that is what happened to mind and it costed 30.00 US here to fix it, you will have to get some strong arms to move it forward to see if you can fix it. .
July 20, 200817 yr Author We have fixed the pump on it before and it does not seem like that this time. I think it has multiple organ failure
July 20, 200817 yr If you asked some nice person/friend you know to come & take a look at it & see if they can fix it ... you could offer them some tea or coffee & some lovely Chocolatey Mud Cake in exchange for their helpful service. If I was near you .... your washing machine would be FIXED & you'd be busy trying to replace all the MUD CAKE I ate after your Washing Machine Repair was done.
July 20, 200817 yr Author NN I would glady make you as much mud cake as you could eat if you would pop yorself onto the next plane and float on over here and fix my washing machine
July 20, 200817 yr Honey that sucks! *hugs* PS thanks for the link KAZ do you know that someone is giving away a monkey on that list???? Edited July 20, 200817 yr by Angelic Vampyre
July 20, 200817 yr WOW, free monkey & some mud cake. I am on my way. That is the type of ad & post you will never see in Toronto Canada. LOL
July 20, 200817 yr I cannot imagine to loose a washing machine now I found this place, there are some second hand washing machines for like $100, I don't know if it's cheap, but seems to be http://melbourne.gumtree.com.au/f-Stuff-fo...W0QQCatIdZ18402
July 20, 200817 yr MB it must be catching cause my washing machine broke down on thursday night aswell.Could not believe it!Had all our uniforms in it aswell. I had been researching machines as I planned to get a new one soon when I get a payout due to me.Of course it broke down before I got my monmey! So mum and dad rescued me and mum did my washing and dad took me shopping for a new machine, best thing is I get to pay them back interest free when my money comes! I got a BOSCH front loader and also get $200 back from the government. With 5 years warranty aswell!Yippee! My old machine cost me a bottle of port 13 years ago so I can't wait for my new one.Good luck finding a machine!
