December 11, 200816 yr Lovely birds Kaz, hard day at work today so am too lazy to type anything else.
December 11, 200816 yr thats great news Kaz. Splat... I know how you feel... I'm signing off now for an hours sleep before I pick up the wife...
December 11, 200816 yr Author 2nd chick hatched shortly after the first...so two chicks in the same day of Omelettes.
December 11, 200816 yr For an auction bird, that hen seems to have been worth far more in breeding than whatever you paid for her! How much did you pay by the way? Im amazed at how well she has produced for you and you are right in that she deserves a rest!! It's great to find such super hens, they are the foundation of every successful line and are priceless when you consider how many excellent offspring will inherent her good traits. Congratulations on such a successful purchase

Congratulations on such a successful purchase :hap: She cost me $235...the most I have paid for a bird so far
December 13, 200816 yr even at 235 she has bred extremely well... looking forward to seeing them all grow up No doubt they'll look great. Maybe even a champion in there :laughter:
December 14, 200816 yr I'm just new to this forum, but this thread is amazing. It took me about 1 hour to read it last week. I can't believe that your babies have so much feathers to unroll when they are babies. No wonder you have already done well with them. Very informative. Thanks for sharing Kaz. PS Can I use the $235 thing on my husband the next time I spend big on budgies? Edited December 14, 200816 yr by Kazzy

December 14, 200816 yr ... What about the wives?? I just asked my wife and she said... "Of course you can James, Of Course." she then said, "try it, try it." I might add I'm just about swimming in her sarcasm.

December 14, 200816 yr :laughter: She loves me. The time will come and I know she'll let me... just not right now (thats what I keep telling myself)
December 14, 200816 yr Author :laughter: She loves me. The time will come and I know she'll let me... just not right now (thats what I keep telling myself) To advance with budgies JB they need to be sneaked in 3 or 4 at a time, building up numbers, not adding one by one by breeding ( but adding by breeding helps too ) ...................
December 14, 200816 yr :laughter: That is very true I think I'll start off a little cheaper than 235 though
December 19, 200816 yr Author We now have four new hatched chicks of Omelette and Stud in fosters nests from the third round of eggs she laid while she had chicks in the nestbox. Two other eggs were damaged by the foster mother and another foster mother left two eggs to go cold, so I think this is all we will get this time. They are in a nest of blue series babies so it will be easy to pick them out when they feather up but they are also the youngest in this nest. . Edited December 19, 200816 yr by KAZ
December 19, 200816 yr Even if the husbands/(wives) don't get into it they do eventually give up and realise it's easier to just go along for the ride
