It's always sad when a chick dies but trying to look on the bright side, 8 is a little easier than 9 for Trooper, and it the long run the remaining chicks may benefit. Please don't think I'm sick but its a little like organ donation its not quite so bad (still bad) when others may benefit.

Fifth chick hatched through the night...well, almost hatched. It rear end never made it out of the shell. I found it dead half out of its shell this morning.

Probably more than the hen can cope with anyway. If any more hatch and are fine they will be fostered.

No cinnamons so far in this batch, living or dead....so that makes the dad pure and not split cinnamon ?

If a cock is a sex-linked mutation, he will only have daughters of that mutation. But if he is only split he can have Normal hens as well as sex-linked ones.

None of the chicks had plum eyes, so I would say I have all normal greens or maybe some opalines.
