July 20, 200816 yr It all depends, type of wood, type of paint, why to paint etc... What're your reasons behind wanting to paint?
July 20, 200816 yr Personally I would think having it painted would make cleaning easier but you have to make sure you use a non-toxic paint

July 20, 200816 yr Then by all means I would say go ahead with it. Non-toxic paint, and make sure the birds can't reach it whilst it's still drying
