Posted March 5, 200520 yr A brand new birdie pinata is such a sight to behold! After a few days, it begins to show some age, but it is still cute. After a week or so, the poor pinata is pooped. Be prepared to stock up... Edited March 5, 200520 yr by Rainbow
March 5, 200520 yr That would not last a week with my litle ones, not with Freakle going for gold on ripping it up Were did you find it? With the next one you will have to get shot of them getting in to it
March 5, 200520 yr That made me laugh, it just shows how destructive these little birds can be.I bet it kept them busy, its nice to get the things that work. How long did that last, with your birds? I must get one, Graham is enjoying one of those wooden coloured beady things with string, hes always at it, so he will just love one of those. I want to get a couple of those rope perches, but is there any drawbacks on the feet, by having them in the cage.Ive always had wood, or a part of an apple tree before, but i thought the rope type looked nice.Anyone have any idea what size would be best. Donna
March 5, 200520 yr Oh Rainbow what a glorious post! I going to look out for one of those, not sure if I've seen one here. Julie
March 5, 200520 yr i havent seen anything like that over here either julie, although there are loads of nut mazes you can buy for larger parrots. i might try looking in a small independant pet shop in town and see if they have anything like that. i think it would keep them amused for hours and hours!
March 5, 200520 yr Author Today is cage cleaning day, and I'm putting the new pinata in. I find these in pet stores, I've gotten them online, and also at bird fairs. (Local stores are more expensive.) They also like the "shredders" - they are woven strips of the same material that come in a small roll and you can cut off whatever length you want. I clip them to the side of the cage and they chew them up too. scully, they will last anywhere from 5 days to 3 or 4 weeks, depending upon their moods. They have several different toys in each cage to choose from, they just seem to like to shred this one best. :bluebudgie: I like the rope perches, the rope is woven very tightly so toenails don't get stuck. I've had the ones that are short and have the fringies on the end, and they liked to chew them up, but the regular perches that attach at both ends don't get chewed up. I don't know why they shred one kind and not the other. Imotive, I have 2 of those cages. One houses 4 birds, the other 6. Sometimes all 10 will pile up in the same cage to sleep, and I will let them do that. But I wouldn't keep them all in the same cage during the day. :bluebudgie:
March 5, 200520 yr Oh really okay then i am sure my cage is fine 3 budgies in one and its a good size ill post some pictures too. Steven
March 12, 200520 yr I could imagine maybe they think there is a treat inside so they dig extra fast and then you have to buy more only for the same result!
April 14, 200520 yr My Budgies love to shred the corn husks that you purchase for tamale's. If you cut them in strips and just tie them in knots on toys, on the chains of toys, or anywhere you can get them through they will spend lots of time tearing them up for you. Lois
