Posted July 18, 200817 yr *mods not sure where this topic should go so sorry if in wrong place* I have a few birds that do not get them seed under husk thing. I have to change their seed for them otherwise they would starve to death with a full bowl of seed. In the avairy it's not such an issue but in the breeding cages I start to get worried. 9 times out of 10 I can top the feed twice a day for birds I know that have an issue but what if something happens and I change it on say Monday morning and then can't get to change it till Tuesday night??? So I started looking for alternatives to normal feed cups. I found people talking about mini hoppers. Basically it's a large jar that drains the feed into a shallow dish below is an example for cats. I want smaller ones with flatter bottoms that will fit in my flight cages so I don't have to worry so much. Any idea of where I can get some? Or does anyone have a better idea?
July 18, 200817 yr It all depends on how your birds eat. I have similar ones to that, and they still have husks on top as the birds pick up the seeds, eat them and drop the left overs right on top... I have to manually scoop out the husks...
July 18, 200817 yr the small ones that fit in breeder cages, i've only seen available from a club supplier. Edited July 18, 200817 yr by Nerwen
July 18, 200817 yr I have a local produce store that has them and they sell the small containers so you just unscrew them and replace with smaller ones ... Check the websites that I posted for Deb for her repile enclosure and there are wholesalers that sell to the public in there I am sure you'll find one or to there

I got the bases from my local budgie club and bought some chutney jars from Coles that fit the rim. Check with your local club first, if they don't have them I can give you contact details of my club secretary who could post them to you.
