I have put two pairs of show type birds down and they have both laid 2 eggs each so far, almost to the same day. This is Cinny and Adonis, cinnamon normal hen with DF spangle cock.

At least one seems to have plum eyes...were they both plum eyed ? Indicates cinnamon amongst other things like recessive.

I havent looked closely at their eyes to be honest, I am just excited about having the babies lol :P

Yes, we have one more baby. According to the "laid and due" calendar, the first two eggs may not hatch. Three is a good number for a first time mummy though :D

The plum eyes show only for a few days after hatching, so check and see if they appear plum coloured or black :P

Congratulations on the babies :D

The plum eyes usually can only be seen for the first few days.

Congratulations Sunnie, it will be good to see what they turn out like, best of luck.

I put my first ring on yesterday. It was a bit harrowing to start with, but I think I was lucky my first time and chose exactly the right day to do it, cause it went on easy enough to not have to push (just fiddle a bit) but difficult enough that it stayed on. My first ever club rung show baby! (And I have NO idea yet what it will look like haha) :)

An update on my first 3 show babies :)

Well, those who spotted the plum eyed baby were all correct. The oldest baby is a cinnamon spangle. The middle baby is a green spangle and the youngest is a blue spangle.

The oldest

The middle child

And the youngest - posted 2 pics of her cause she seems to love to pose :budgiedance:

Very nice babies. :) The youngest seems to be a violet spangle and possibly male. The other two seem to be hens. BUT it could be the colour thing on here.....time will tell :budgiedance:

Thank you :)

I have to admit I am pretty happy with all three babies and glad I might have at least another hen to go on with. And its nice to know from the pairing, that dad must be split cinnamon and mum must be split blue :D
