Budgies And Lovebirds

Hi there,

Today i have put my 4 lovebirds in an aviary with my 11 budgies and 2 quail.

The lovebirds seem to get on okay with the budgies, I saw a budgie even grooming one and following them.

There is only one budgie that if it gets near her she doesn't like them.

I have read on heaps of sites that lovebirds shouldn't go with budgies, but mine get on fine. I don't have anywhere else to put them anyway until my dad builds an extension.

It is night time here and i am just hoping that they will survive!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

They seem to stick together alot.

I also have 6 nesting boxes.

Thanks

BAD BAD BAD BAD BAD IDEA!!! take them out immediatly and house them inthe bathroom if you have to. All you'll get is deaths if you leave things how they're.

I heard a story a while ago about a pet rabbit that was killed by lovebirds. It might not happen tonight but as soon as they decide that aviary is their territory you will start to lose other birds!

I agree!! Take them out!!! :bluebudgie: They will kill the budgies

Again...remove them immediately !!! We have seen the results of lovebirds in with budgies...some very graphic pictures on the net of attacks by lovebirds. Horrible !! The mix of those two species is bad enough but you have nesting boxes in there too.....really bad for territorial issues. :bluebudgie:

thankyou for your replies, we have now seperated them and tomorrow my dad will partition part of our aviary so theyll have a place of their own ^_^

do you have a picture of your set-up with the 6 nesting boxes in there? Even with the lovebirds gone colony breeding can have unwanted results, a picture would help others here to ensure your set-up is okay.

Hi there,

Well i have one of my pairs in a breeding cage my dad made and the 9 others are just in my aviary all together.

They have enough nesting boxes and they are all around the right breeding age and they all get on fine.

:D
