Posted July 14, 200816 yr So everything has been going to *** in an handbag on late for me, so I decided to do a positive post and concentrate on that. First off, took Boof to the vet and he got a clean bill of health vet very impressed on his recovery so much so he does not need to be in a heated box tonight and go to go back in the cage with Buddy. So I set up their temp cage. Boof & Buddy hanging out I also took Lemon with me, and he said she was fine, keep up with the cod liver oil then give her lots of calcium when she comes off doxci, he thinks she might have an egg in the works. He also recommended a change to her cage so that the nest box goes on the ground (MB you where right!) Here is Lemon and Limes new set up So now that people have moved around cages here is my to be cleaned pile of cages (yes MB yours will be one of the first I do) Vet recommended warm water and detol. And my to be thrown out pile but does not fit in the rubbish bin Now for the rest of the guys. First up my sort of new, raid MBs aviary have to give them back if they have really nice babies SheRa and HeMan (named by the boy down the street today) okay on to the sickies... Kadaj who I really like and will hopefully pair with DQ, he has really nice grey markings on his tum tum and for $5 I thought was a good buy The girls - Ashley and Grey (Grey is the normal grey) They are the sickest out of the lot, but both are coming on well, no tail bobbing but still really runny poop The Boys - Brandon & Mickey (Brandon is the one with flecks in his head) Both got marginly sick and now are almost better, as with Kadaj I will restart their quarantine next week or so they will be the first to join the base flock they are also destined to be the girls first breeding partners Sky My resuce girl, I can not believe that she has survived! I really thought a few times that I had lost her. But she is one tough old bird! She still has the crop issue and the vet said that if I wanted to breed from her then I should foster the eggs out as feeding chicks may be to much stress on her crop. I will see how she is 6 months down track she has some really nice size to her so I might give her a round with a big cock if I can find one that will be nice to her. Flame & Blue Going great will be one of the first pairs I put down to breed (and before you say it this was the best shot I could get of them, both of them know who I am and what a camera means and both hate it when I pull it out!) Fiji & Mozzie She never liked anyone and has just fallen in love with Fiji and he seems to love her back so I might let them go a round in the breeding cages, funny thing to watch her beat the **** out of him and he takes it and comes back for more Cloud & Tifa (formaly known as pretty) She got renamed and these two paired up. I love the patch of black on Clouds back can't really see this in the picture Storm & DQ (short of Drama Queen) DQ lives up to her name and will be going into a breeding cage with Kadaj when he gets 100% and has a rest before breeding, Storm is an egg smasher so I am not sure I will ever breed from her she also has a funny shaped head so I might just let her live out her time in the aviary. Harley & Lucky The love of my life, my grumpy old man, my first and my baby no matter how many times he bites me! and my new girl So that is me done I am now at what 22 birds Found out today that I am not allowed to reach up due to complications with my surgery that I had at the start of last month so Mum and Dad are coming down to help finish the bird room. Looks like it will be complete by next weekend, then a week to air then the sickies will go in there and the rest will go in the aviary then come the end of Aug All will go in the aviary and I will set the bird room up for breeding to start in September..... I have a plan, I am a gal with a plan!

July 14, 200816 yr Personally, i feel Boof should be resting with no real activity for a few days, he needs lots of sleep and rest to regain the blood that he lost - unless of course he is in his cage going nuts to get out Edited July 14, 200816 yr by **Liv**
July 14, 200816 yr All those 22 ( lol )look good - Bet they are happy that they are getting a New room all to themselves
July 14, 200816 yr His mum is violet and his dad is cobalt. HIs brother was exactly the same but violet like his mum He WASN"T a reject I just decided not to offer him to anyone else
July 14, 200816 yr Author Personally, i feel Boof should be resting with no real activity for a few days, he needs lots of sleep and rest to regain the blood that he lost - unless of course he is in his cage going nuts to get out He was really upset being seperated from buddy, I put the heat pack in the cage and opened the door to let Buddy out and boof followed him so I figured 5 mins would not hurt gave them some millet and put them back and covered them for the night. I would be happier if he had sat suggled up in the smaller cage but he had a mind of his own! He WASN"T a reject I just decided not to offer him to anyone else :hap: Yes I keep telling him that He's my little NQR Budgie, he is NQR cause he thinks he a a puppy dog!
July 14, 200816 yr wonderful pictures, your birds are lovely it was nice to met them all in one post , take care of yourself you don't want to land back in the hospital and such..it is very nice you are getting help that is wonderful!
July 15, 200816 yr Author Boof & Buddy where very cute today. They are in the Study with the heater on to keep the heat up to them but I also have one of those wheat packs that you heat up, does not stay warm for long but still thought I would keep it in there for a bit. Took MBs idea with the possum and put it in a breeding box and put the breeding box in the cage and let Boof get in there and it's a nice dark warm hole for him to rest in. Well Buddy wants in as well so today when I woke up and got the heat pack out both of them where still in there for the night before. Heated up the pack re set it up and both crawled in and snuggled down so I figure that they are happy. My sister just rang to tell me she was home for lunch and heated the pack up again she did not even get the box 100% back in the cage and they where already climbing in The room they are in is warm so I am not worried about them being cold I just think it is to cute.... now I have to break the news to them in a few days that they will not be getting the heat pack and box back again.....
July 17, 200816 yr Author More good news, we are now tail bobbing free. Yes no more tail bobbing from anyone. Also we are 95% discharge free. The boys (Brandon, Micky & Kadaj) all are free from Discharge and their poo is normal. Sky is also 10000 times better and outside of still missing a few feathers she has restarted her quarantine and in 30 days will join the avairy guys back in the aviary. The boys are looking about about 45 days to be on the safe side. Ashley and Grey are doing well. No tail bobbing and only a little discharge from Ashley however we still have watery running white coloured poo so they do not get a quarantine restart. Lemon is ignoring the breeding box so thinking I might have to look at a different cage for her and Lime one that does not have a wire grill on the bottom. Might buy a more tradtional breeding box and put them in that. Also found out that Lime can no flight but then again he has put on weight so he might just need to get fit! Boof is also better. He is still a little freaked about being taken out of his cage but once I have him in hand he settles quickly is not biting me and knows I have the millet seed! So all in all a good result so far.
July 17, 200816 yr Author I really thought Lemon had worked out the whole breeding box thing, she spent most of this evening going in and out and then goes to sleep by the end of it! Grrrr stupid hen. I really don't care if she breeds or not, but she is showing all the signs of having and egg and i want her to be comfortable and the grill on the bottom of the cage can't be but hey each to their own!
July 17, 200816 yr AV a sheet of newspaper fits perfectly in the bottom of those cages, why not just put some paper on top of the grill for the moment
July 18, 200816 yr Author AV a sheet of newspaper fits perfectly in the bottom of those cages, why not just put some paper on top of the grill for the moment Tried that she shredded a section and sat on the grill anyway, maybe she just likes it! :hap: Thinking thinking.... Wonder if that Harry guy has any breeding boxes/cabinets for sale??? Maybe I should pick up a couple if he is selling them cheap? Or is this a good price for this on e-bay? Item Number 230272240294 Edited July 18, 200816 yr by Angelic Vampyre
July 18, 200816 yr I think he said he sold them all but it's worth asking. I can lend you my wooden double for the moment if you like to try. If I can manage it the it middle divider comes out to make it bigger, the nest boxes are fixed up the top but that probably won't matter, she'll just ignore it anyway.you could unscrew the front and stick another one on the floor if you wanted to. That's a great price, if you don't want them all I'll take a few abnd share the cost with you Edited July 18, 200816 yr by melbournebudgies
July 18, 200816 yr Or is this a good price for this on e-bay? Item Number 230272240294 That is a good price - Youd pay $80 for the wire fronts alone :hap:
July 18, 200816 yr Author Or is this a good price for this on e-bay? Item Number 230272240294 That is a good price - Youd pay $80 for the wire fronts alone I was thinking that Liv will bid. MB I only really want a few as over flow cages or for birds that can't settle as I will get them wall mounted. So we can get them and work out who wants want and split the cost. I have bid so unless you want them all for yourself don't outbid me please :hap: PM me with how much you are willing to pay for them
