Posted July 12, 200817 yr I bought this breeding pair of budgies and the male is a sky blue normal and female is grey normal and the babys that they had were albinos and grey recessive pieds Just wondering how this works?
July 12, 200817 yr The albino gene has to come from Dad. Dad must be split to albino. The 'Ino gene is a sex-linked gene, so if Mum had it, then she would be an albino, she cannot hide the 'Ino gene. All your albino's will be female.
July 12, 200817 yr to answer the question about grey, grey is dominant over the blue gene so when you but grey and blue together the babies will be grey. only in the green gene will you get a bird that is a grey green mix.
July 13, 200817 yr keep in mind Single factors too Elly. If the grey only has one grey gene there can still be blue offspring appearing in a clutch.
July 13, 200817 yr oh yes because there is no grey in that gene....I wasn't thinking that route, thank you
