Posted July 10, 200816 yr Out of 7 eggs 6 have hatched 1 baby has died. ( was on the floor of the aviary.) I gave it budgie CPR for at least 5 mins but to no avail…. I’m looking forward to Violets and Mauve Yellowfaces Mum is a YF opaline Mauve and Dad is a Violet Reccessive Pied. Is my prodection correct
July 10, 200816 yr I dont think you will get opalines - I had a opaline hen with a pied cock and not one opaline chick - i forget the genetic side of it, but you should get a mixture of YF's, pieds and normals - and they will be mauve/violet Edited July 10, 200816 yr by **Liv**
July 10, 200816 yr Author WOOOO HOOOO - I love the violets .... I need Yf in the avairy I only have this one
July 10, 200816 yr To answer the question above, when the mom is an opaline all the males will be split for opaline, you only get opaline chicks if the dad is split for opaline or is an opaline. You will have yellow faces, mauves, violets and if mom is carrying the recessive pied gene maybe a surprise. With that combo you can have violet mauves and wow that will be pretty too , can't wait to see them feather up.
July 10, 200816 yr oh they are cute, l can hardly wait till they feather up Edited July 10, 200816 yr by birdluv
