Posted July 10, 200816 yr I was wondering at what age can babies sit on a perch or climb.i tried to put Roxy on a perch in her cage today and she did not know how to grab it at all so she fell off.
July 10, 200816 yr I think it''s a skill that is learned in the 4th-5th week of chickhood Normally by the time they fledge, they can perch okay
July 10, 200816 yr Yep agree with Liv on that one ... when i handle my chicks, from around the 4th week i get them use to sitting on my finger. then the 5th week i get them to grab on to the perch not all of them do it- right away but they will
July 10, 200816 yr Put some sturdy twigs in the bottom of the cage for her to climb over as she walks around.
July 10, 200816 yr I, too, agree with Liv......4-5 weeks. They do try little wooden ladders sooner than perches sometimes. Also try putting a perch just an inch to two inches from the ground.
July 10, 200816 yr Author Thanks for everyones advice, i will start getting her to sit on my fingers and also get some twigs for her cage. I would like her to learn to perch so she can stay cleaner, she drags her tail through her poos. Yuk!
