I am learning sooooo much about genetics of budgies on this site and I've never been so fasinated in my life. This is great. So also when you said "sky" did you mean sky-blue? And if that is the case which one of his mutations makes him appear "light green/pale yellow"? That's the one part of genetics that interests me how a blue can appear green, grey, violet, etc....
July 10, 200817 yr Libby gave you the sky info so I will leave it to her to explain to you ( most likely in the morning )
July 11, 200817 yr By saying yf2 sky bird it means that he has the yellow face mutation which washes over his body colour which is in the lightest form (no dark factors) sky. There's three levels of blue, sky, cobalt and mauve... all of these birds will normally have a whiteface, unless it carries the gene yf (yellowface) Now there's two types of YF... type1 and type2... Type one is reserved for the face area only as a general rule and will not touch the body colour of the bird, leaving it totally blue and totally yellow.... Type two however is when the birds yellowface washes over it's body colour to create a greeny/blue colour. Due to how the yellowface presents itself on your bird and the light blue/green of his stomach I would think he'd be a yf2 sky. Here are two pictures of birds so you can see the difference between the Type1 and Type2 - type1 bird - You can see how the yellow face is still yellow and the blue is totally blue - This bird is a yf2 - you can see how the yellow is still in the face, but the blue has had it wash over it and turn to an aqua colour

I now fully understand the YF1 and YF2. You explained it very clear. So when you said "sky" you were speaking of the dark factor that is in "camo" due to the yellowface2 making him look "greenish". So if he wasn't a yellowface2 his body color would be sky blue. I think I got it. Thank you again.
