Posted July 8, 200817 yr I just wanted to clear something up which has bothered me for a while. I have noticed that most people on here say not to feed iron rich foods as they interfere with the absorption of calcium, however it is actually the other way around. Lots of studies have shown that mid level intakes of calcium interfere with the absorption of iron. This goes for humans too and is a stipulation of the iron supplements that I take for sever anaemia - take with OJ NOT milk, as the milk will stop me from absorbing the important iron. For those who want more info I hunted down one study on it, haven't read the whole thing but here it is anyway: http://www.alphavit.ru/files/34/calcium_iron_absorption.pdf Edited July 9, 200817 yr by melbournebudgies
July 9, 200817 yr Yes, you are right - I always get that one mixed up But I still believe iron rich foods are not good for breeding budgies.
July 9, 200817 yr I feed both, although calcium in higher quantaties as they can have alot more problems without it
